Alloy brake bolts? Not sure how I feel about that one.

 They are titanium.

Where did you get colored ti bolts?

The bane of my existence Toronto Cycles (www.torontocycles.com). I say bane because I always end up spending more money there than I intend. His prices are insanely good.

Formula R1. They come stock with steel mounting hardware, red piston caps, red lever adjusters, and steel lever clamp bolts. Mine have blue titanium mounting hardware, blue piston caps, silver lever adjusters, and titanium lever clamp bolts.

Ah, I figured it was an R1 but didn't recognize the blue cap. Where'd the blue cap come from?

Formula North America has an office here in Petaluma. The guy who runs it has some pretty cool stuff floating around that he hooks me up with from time to time.

Dammit. I'd have bought a set if the blue caps were more readily available. I don't want to go through the trouble of having them anodized on my own.

Well the problem is that the Formula piston caps can only be removed with a special tool, and the cap itself is almost always ruined in the process. So you would first have to get the special tool and then get a new set of caps. Then you could send them to the guy at Toronto Cycles and I bet he could anodize them for cheap.

But Formula's pricing is terrible so a set of caps would likely cost you $30 each. And the tool itself would also be pricey I'm sure. Just one of the many benefits to being 2 blocks from the Formula office.

My shop does anodizing in that shade of blue so I could have it done for free, but I don't like wearing out my welcome. Ehh, fuck it. If it's that much of a hassle to change a cap I won't bother. Thanks for the info though.

Why/how is the cap generally ruined?

Because the cap is installed by a machine in the factory and it is so ungodly tight that it's very difficult to remove without damaging it. Also the tool required for the removal is super shallow so it's hard to get a good bite.

 Interesting. Thanks for the reply
