Toby as I said on your FB page, this is another contender for image of the year in my opinion...love it. I know you said it was lit from the left, just guessing here but feel it was more than just a speedlite, possibly a pack with at least 400W power to get that beautiful light from far on to Aiken.

Thanks man! It was actually just a speedlite, 580exII to be exact, and not at full power either. I think it was at about 1/8th, maybe 1/16th from memory. The fog rolled in just as I shot this which explains the heavy glow in the top left of the shot. The flash itself is only just out of frame, so realistically not that far from the rider.

 Thanks a lot Toby...much appreciated.

Did you use High Speed Sync?
If the EXIF data is correct, you did... Wondering how the flash can be that powerful in this case (with HSS it should be pretty weak)

Hey man! The exif data is correct, but no HSS was used, unfortunately the pocket wizards I use (plus II) aren't capable of HSS. 1/250 is the highest shutter speed you can use with them as far as I know.
