Selected by Scott Secco - Margus Riga and James Doerfling have a great working relationship, it seems that every trip they do together results in photographic gold. Their last adventure in Farwell Canyon was no exception. I think Margus did a great job of using his fisheye to show just how steep the chute is (which Doerfling is actually airing into). The average viewer doesn't realize how difficult it is to ride here, or even to get in position to get a shot like this. It's scary just hiking around.
Is it just pods that are less popular or has the website's use fallen? Vods and articles still seem to be pretty popular so not sure why pods aren't anymore.
i feel that photo's are more and more edited to the point where we lose the feel of it :/ VOD's re also really good and have been seen before they were chosen as vod - these kind of natural loking photos never seem to be chosen www.pinkbike.com/photo/8634899 :p
I suspect the decline in popularity has more to do with the fact that a lot of people are choosing to get their POD fix through the other social media avenues that PB is pushing. On a given day users can view the same POD on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter with most PODs recieving between 6,000 and 10,000 likes. And that's likes, not views so you can assume that a photo on Instagram gets at least 2-3 times more views than likes. Why bother clicking to see a POD on Pinkbike or faving it, let alone commenting on it when it's easier for many people to do so on their phone via IG or FB. If you total up the numbers across all the mediums I think POD's are actually more popular than ever before - just not on the actual website.
