Beautiful bike mate! You can't beat a good AM hardtail, especially here in the UK. Not sure about the White Industries cranks though, sure they look awesome and are properly light but I don't recon the a square taper BB will be burly enough for AM action, Perhaps some Middleburn RS8 X-types or some Gusset Woodstock 853s with a Ti axle? Still a awesome bike though!
seraph considering the weight of the frame (2.7kg) this bike is outrageously light for a trail bike 10.7kg. the cranks are white industries with ti bottom bracket total weight around 660g so in the same league as the carbon raceface next crankset. white industries also now make sram xx1 spider to mount a narrow wide chainring to these cranks.
I know all about the cranks. I live in the town where White Industries is located. I'm not saying they're too light, I'm saying that square taper is not strong enough for modern trail bike riding.
hey this is a workhorse not a show bike & I travel nearly every weekend to ride i'm 5'6" & weigh 10st - heavy riders landing big drops to flat probably crush these cranks so wouldnt recommend for everyone but thats not me & thats not AM riding. if i do ever bend the bb spindle which is about same diameter as x-type through the central sectionI might consider something different like an X0 maybe. i ride DH, rocky scottish/ welsh trail centres , bmx tracks & DJ on this bike so more than just AM. no issues with the cranks so far.
