Like many other top slopestyle athletes, Brandon has experimented with running a custom Hydraulic gyro for unlimited barspins and tailwhips. He had one on his bike in 2011, but during the last two seasons he has been gyro free. There are a few downsides to the hydraulic gyro with friction being Brandon’s main issue; even under no load there is drag when spinning the bars. The other problem is the constant maintenance; fluid weeps from the gyro seals so you constantly need to be bleeding the brake. Add to that the drag issue and you have Brandon looking for an alternative: mechanical.
