 the 55x14t gearing would put out 103.16 gear inches (8.233 metres) of development for every crank revolution...I was wondering why he would not have chosen the 53x13t option instead but it's slightly bigger and might have messed his cadence,,,the 53x13t puts out 107.06 gear inches (8.543 metres) of development per crank rev...

 the 52x13t would put out 105.04 gear inches (8.382 metres) of development per stroke which would almost be identical (just slightly bigger) than the 55x14t he used...
