I don´t want faves or anything.. but seriously can you even get the chance for a pod as a no name member..??

I think it's probably easier as a name as you have more followers so your work gets out to more people. Imagine how many photos get posted on pb every day (a lot just for sale ads).
It must take a lot for a shot to even appear on a selectors radar.

I spend a lot of time looking through photos on Pinkbike to try and find new photographers to be featured as PODs, so no you don't have to be a well-established professional to get a POD. You do, however, have to get your shots in focus.

 Alright then,
thanks for the reply anyway Smile

Laurence always puts out bangers nice one mate.
But i have to Disagree with you Matt there are so many images i see that never make the light of day that are POD worthy as you call it.
its mostly the same photographers getting PODS.
Also i did read once a post by you somewhere about over processed images etc then i see images being posted on POD that are clearly edited beyond what can be deemed as Instagram Bangers .ie the POD a few days ago as a example,a nine knights photo by Lau ,That photo as strong backlighting which would had left the rider in total blackness as no fill flash etc was used to light the rider up.
And edited very strongly at a guess ( shadows pulled up excessively which pulled out some exposure on the rider which degraded the image and some heavy type of vignetting to the top of the photo to i guess give it a little mood..
Yes photographers over edit at time (and i have done it myself, which i look back on them and want to hide from what i have done to them)

To sum up be consistent in the statements you post about processing/over processing images as we do pick up on it

The reason you see certain photographers getting mulitple PODs is because they are regularly uploading great photos. Simple. My brief for PODs is that they should be the best photos in mountain biking. Unsurprisingly, the people who reach that standard most often are people who do this for a living. And I will repeat myself as you seem to have missed what I said: I spend a lot of time looking through photos on Pinkbike to try and find new photographers to be featured as PODs. Incidentally - looking through the photos you have favourited, the names seem quite familiar. If you're liking the work of those photographers, why shouldn't they be getting PODs?

What is an 'Instagram Banger'? I have literally no idea what you're talking about. Aside from the fact that I didn't select that Christoph Laue shot as POD (Scott Secco did), if you look over the PODs in the 12 months since I've been the main selector for PODs you will see that on the whole the shots I choose are not heavily processed. There are, of course, some exceptions, because sometimes heavy processing can look great, and sometimes the rest of a shot can be so compelling that you have to put your usual preferences aside. To me, it sounds a lot like you're looking for an excuse to have a bit of a pop, and that's fine. I'm going to turn the computer off now and go riding.

@mattwragg have you ever heard of @stillmrg or @krismag117 basically all there photos have been better than all the crappy pods lately...
  • 4 7
Yes, I have seen work from the pair of them. I'm sure it will help motivate them to get out and shoot knowing how much their works excites you.

All a bit negative on here right now. If you don't like what pinkbike is doing go find something better. I think you would be hard pushed. Rare seeing a moderator getting wound up too!!

It's not what you know... It's who you know. Always has been and always will be!

Sterling Lorence, Sam Needham, Marcus Riga, Paris Gore, Claudio Olguin, . . . . all names I see regularly with POD's . . . . . . and Amen for that !! They are bloody amazing photographers. Nothing here to complain about, when I was a photographer I never won any comps, it just drove me to improve my standards.

Thanks @JustinCarpenter really appreciate the kind words!

@Ein....that pic is horrid compared to the one chosen for POD today. Just saying.

I didn´t mean to compare mine with Laurence-CEs shot.. nor wanted I to say my pic is pod worthy.. the water-shot just reminded me..
