How is the 1x11 setup. I have the 2014 slash 8 and love it. It seems to me just at a glance that the only real changes between years is the suspension. What wheels are on that yours? I am looking to upgrade my wheels this winter
its still a 1x10 setup, the oneup just gives it more range, but i love the setup, best drivetrain upgrade ive ever done. i can climb up anything i could with a 2x, but no annoying front derrailer/shifter to worry about. although i recently put a bashguard/chainguide on it since i found that even the narrow/wide chainring would drop the chain every once in a while on the really fast rough stuff. comes with bontrager duster wheels which ive found to be surprisingly strong, worth an upgrade if you want something a bit lighter, but im going to keep them at least until i blow up the rear wheel, which took me about a year on my last slash.
i was bummed at first when i realized the shock didnt have any CTD-type adjustments like the rc3 does (and like i was used to on my last bike), but after a few rides i got used to it, now i love it. the only thing i change on my suspension is lowering the fork for steep climbs. id say give it a try before replacing it, unless youre the kind of rider that really feels like you need damping adjustments on the go, but i personally i think i prefer the simplicity.
overall the bike climbs much better than one would expect. all my riding buddies ride remedies, and suddenly im faster on the climbs, even cleaning uphill sections ive never been able to clean before. ...not that the bike deserves ALL the credit
