Selected by Matt Wragg - While 50mm primes are popular lenses, they aren't easy to use to shoot action. When it's done well like this they give the photo a very unique feel, sitting in between the long and wide lens photos that tend to dominate mountain bike photography. That and the 1.2 aperture on Canon's top end offering gives a distinctive, and pleasing, depth of field, and also allows enough light in to shoot in the darkest of forests.
