 all strength is strength, good upper body strength helps through the rough Smile you would notice most of the UCI DH guys are a little stronger up top. you might actually want to go to the gym tup

 Dig and maintain your local trails, ride the piss out of them (try to pedal back to the top if you can), help your neighbor or your dad carry bags of concrete or auto parts, or whatever, eat a bacon burger, drink a beer, sleep, repeat! This is what has been working for me. I've never done a gym routine in my life.
