Sram engineers "lets make a DH crank that is the exact same as our xc crank but we will just make them in 165mm and put a 83mm spindle on it. Whats the worst that will happen"
and I'll repeat exactly what I said the last time a someone commented something similar on a broken carbon sram crank pic, "Just buy raceface next sl or sixc and they'll survive the nuclear apocalypse. Don't judge all carbon cranks by the grenades sram ships out."
Not Judging all carbon cranks, just passing some judgement (maybe unjustly) on carbon period. I am old enough to have seen the first carbon rage come and go in MTB back in the 90's, many of the parts and frames made from carbon broke, Not to say that aluminum bikes dont break, they do, nevertheless, never saw a broken V10 until they started making them from carbon. carbon is a great material, and there are some companies that have turned out great carbon products, but there are still many that I personally am leery of.
