Though bittersweet, this moment was perhaps the perfect ending to the career of Emmeline Ragot, carried off stage by her biggest rival of the past decade. The level at the top end of the women's field is so high right now entirely because of these two.
Selected by Matt Wragg - Great race photography is about capturing moments - and this is one of them, this is the kind of moment that should be remembered when we talk about what we want our sportsmen and women to be. Carrying a long-term rival off the stage after she announces her retirement because she is too injured too walk is true respect between competitors...
"Someone" (I have no clue who) responsible for placing photographers has messed up the thing, because very few people who were at the place to watch the ceremony could see athletes. Instead they saw backs of photographers. However thanks to the power internet we can relive this moment
Agreed with waki, the photographers did block the view! Thankfully I'm blessed with tallness so I could still see.. either way this photo has brought back an epic memory.
Thanks Dave!
I feel a little choked up with this picture.. This one really is worth a thousand words..
never mind the sick pictures we will get this year of big air, flying roost or epic landscapes.. this is truly for me P.O.Y.
I just about teared up when I saw this. A simple gesture from a friend but an action that will be viewed and felt by so many as something humbling, touching and loaded with awesomeness!! F##k I love this sport!!!
Top class act from a top class athlete.
POY for me, if only more people involved in the back ground of the pic to show how much MTB means to people no just us pinkbikers or MTBers.
Mountain bike is a sport where everyone appreciates everyone. It is the most respectful and noble form of sport competition i have ever seen. This picture describes it perfectly, because women in nature are more jealous and envious. Cheers
