Selected by Matt Wragg - I love the dark, rich colours here and I think it is a brave move to have the riders so you can only see them in their reflections in the lake, and the result is stunning.
I like the image but can't work out how they're reflected in the water and not visible riding down the slope itself- I take it that this a composition of separate images? Kind of looks like the shot of the riders was taken at a different location and time? Either way it's very clever and looks cool!
I doubt it's two images, more likely just a question of distance. With the deep shadows you have no sense of depth, so those pines trees may be too far away to reflect in the water, but the riders very close to the water - if you look at the two skylines (the real one and the reflect one) they are very different.
simplified to they're up against the water's edge casting a shadow and reflection, but hidden in the shadow of the mountains far behind them in the picture.
@mattwragg nailed it. No photoshop required, it's one image but yes, the details of the land melted together hiding the riders, but their reflections still came through.
Cheers guys- couldn't get my head around it but looking at it more closely what you all say makes perfect sense. Very clever and extremely effective- banging shot @SSPhoto26
