Have two Kona Stinkys at the moment 2004 and 2005 models, never regret of buying them or riding them. Never understood why people hate them. Fabien Barel was riding them in NWD movies fast and really impressive. Great bikes and great company.

They are super fun bikes indeed. For their age they work impressively well. I also prefer the tough look these frames have over all the smooth hydroform tubes companies use nowadays. Ended up selling this frame though, because it was too small for me. Worked well on most trails, but as soon as the descents started to get very steep and techy I felt the short top tube was holding me back. Replaced it with a 2004 Cannondale Gemini freeride frame which has a reach that is 50mm longer. Will be riding the same 150mm front + rear, kind of enduro / light DH set up.

Yes, Kona Stinky is known for the short top tube. Iam 5'11 and 2004 Stnky is size 18, and it feels not bad with 50 mm direct mount stem, but had to play with the seat position adjustment. 2005 model is size 15, but stand over is pretty much the same as 2004 one, and the top tube is almost the same. Seems that in order to accommodate 7 inch rear travel for 2005 model in size 15, the rest of the front triangle geometry has been tricked towards bigger numbers. I have the same setup for both bikes regards front suspension, basically using triple crowns and direct mount stems on both, but had to move the seat on 2005 one a bit rearward. Actually it most matters when you pedaling in seated position, but when you going really steep downhills in any case i have to move behind the seat, so the short cockpit even helps to be in better control over the bike and it is easier to move over the bike according to trail changes.
Regards Gemini bike, I always wanted to own one thanks to Cedric Grasia influence, but missed two opportunities to buy this bike on local used bikes listings. But I still have Haro Extreme 2004 model, which has really close suspension design to Gemini. Over the years I,ve tried different forks on it wih travel ranging from 110mm to 203 mm and in my opinion, the best for single pivot bike with this geometry would be 180mm fork hands down. 150mm was ok, but not enough for even for light dh or aggressive trail riding. Again, it is only my experience, but Cannondale Gemini(tried once with 180 Manitou fork) is really shines with 180mm, compared to 150mm. If you have a chance, try it

I thought you ment that Smile . My frame + shock cost me about the same (120 euros). Just couldn't let that deal pass. If you really want one best is set an email alert on eBay in case anyone puts one on eBay.
