 Thanks dude! Forwards actually. Off camera flash was fired at the beginning of the exposure. I tried a lot of different techniques to get it right, this technique seemed to get the best results for what I wanted to accomplish.

 How do these photos work?

 It's a long exposure with off camera flash.

 ....and the flash fires at the beginning of the exposure

 Yes. It is Kamloops! If your persistent with monitoring aurora activity you can see them in town more than one would think. I have shot at least 10 good aurora shows in the Kamloops area in 2015.
