Thanks bud...Cell phone pics just don't do any justice to being "in it"!!

@keithrad: Ain't that the truth? I remember a couple years ago, I was on my way out of the mountains west of the Springs, after getting holed up from being snowed in (in my Jeep!!! Thankfully I had food and warmth lol) for a couple days thanks to a nasty snow storm. On my way down, with fresh snow on everything in sight, and an overcast day with the perfect amount of light coming through the clouds so as not to be gloomy, the mountains looked like the most vibrant, 3D black and white photograph ever taken- and I was inside of it. The entire landscape was devoid of color in the most incredible way possible. I've never seen anything like it, and I doubt I ever will.. And all I had was my $%&#*#$*& cell phone!! I'll post one of the pics later. It still looks incredible even with the whopping 3 or 5 megapixels the camera had, but compared to the vivid depth of tone of the real thing, it's just depressing when I look at them.

@therealtylerdurden: Dude that sounds amazing just by your description! Sounds like an Ansel Adams photograph! Would love to see it.That is another reason I want to move someplace new. I mean I love my home, but with the modern conveniences we enjoy, why not expand our horizons? I've lived in about a 65 mile radius of this area my whole life...Not a mountain in sight!

@baggyferret: It was one of those moments I will cherish for many years, I already know it!! We had just got there the evening before and weren't sure what we wanted to do first. I thought about the signage for the Continental Divide that we had passed coming into town, so we went back there and got out and just started walking...When we got to the top it was awe inspiring for us flat landers!!

@keithrad: absolutely! (Love Ansel's work btw!) If I had a medium or large format camera I would've been in heaven! Or maybe it would've turned out worse, because I've only used slr's/dslr's and wouldn't know wtf I was doing. lol

Funny, not everything's bigger in Texas! lol Even AZ has mountains higher than anywhere east of the Rockies. I honestly couldn't deal with it. When crossing across Texas/Kansas/Oklahoma/Nebraska, the second I see the distant mountains on the horizon, I get butterflies in my stomach. And when I get into the mountains, even after being away from them for a week, it's that feeling when your in love with a new gf. Everything's brighter, louder, more exciting and more fulfilling. I love it!

@therealtylerdurden: hell yes, we know that feeling. And when we're coming back and the mountains are now in the rear view mirror, the moment we cross back into Texas you start sticking to the seat and armrest etc. It's like...."we're back"!!!:-(
