 Yes. The gears are steel. A common gear steel grade is 8620 aka 21NiCrMo2.

 Would be possibile to use aluminum alloy?
Then it would be much lighter and people havent so big like engine.
Some alloys after good treatment have big hardness and yield strength over even over 600 MPa.
