I'd say my methods has been slightly refined over the years (this was 2010), but I'd still say that sometime you just gotta drill shit. But I would've used a nicer screw now. If I remember right I ran it 7-speed using a DA cassette. It did hold up though and I actually still got that derailleur laying around somewhere!

@bicyclerider: We used to put Dura Ace 10-speed SS cages on XTR M960 bodies to make them short cage.
