What did you have to do to the lower headset/crown race to make the straight steerer work? An adaptor crown race or did you have to switch out the lower headset as well?

Just swapped out the crown race to a 1 1/8, everything else the same with regards to the headset. I did take the spacers out below the stem to keep stack height lower.
