@samjam: New York city is like that, but a lot of the rest of the state is more rural especially up in the mountains north of NYC and the further north you go the more mountainous it gets. That picture is about 1hr north of NY City.

as I said I simply thought it was a shit fight there . I would love to see it . Did you grow up in New York ? I grew up in Sydney which is our biggest city but live in a rural town now . Much better lifestyle

@samjam: If you come visit NY my house is open to you and your family, come stay with me so you don't have to spend money on hotels! Yea, I mainly grew up in New York, moved around a lot growing up but mainly in NY and New Jersey for a few years. I also lived in Europe for a few years. I was always into hiking, backpacking and camping, but I moved north of NYC back in 1998 when I discovered MTB to be closer to the trails and mountains.

thank you mate. I want to go somewhere os while I can still ride and Mandy has a thing about the USA . Where in Europe bro? That’s cool. I moved around a lot as my dad was in the army but mostly in Sydney and it’s suburbs . When dad went to Vietnam for the third time I was a few days old and we lived in the rural part with family but now that’s suburbia . Do you work in the city?

@samjam: I backpacked around Europe after college for 8 month, would find work at bars to get some money then I would move on to the next city. When I was done backpacking I ended up living in Greece for about 1.5 years. Yes, I currently work in the city and take the train to work, door to door it's about 1.5 hours, long commute but worth it to live up near all these trails and away from the shit fight of the city.

what a adventure that would have been! I had many Greek mates in Sydney in fact my nick name growing up was spiro . Greek mates gave it me coz I was the only Aussie in the group and it stayed with me for years. My door to door is 7 minutes lol but used to be a hour plus in Sydney by car to go about 15 miles. It was a smart move mate moving to the trails . I would imagine real estate would be a lot cheaper too.

@samjam: I think I have a cousin in Sydney, lots of Greeks moved there after the world war 2.

melbourne and Sydney have huge Greek communities . Really good aussies . They bought hard work and great food with them. As a kid the joke was the Greeks would concrete there whole yards or open a fruit shop . Lot of Greeks had nick name “ fruit shop” . They are just aussies now and are a big part of forming our culture post war . f*ck you guys love concrete though hey Wink

@samjam: That's funny you say that, I notice that with the old time Greeks and Italians in NY, they love to concrete their front lawns, lol Maybe because in Greece they have no lawns? It's usually rather dry there.

yeah righto funny that. The real old school Greeks are super “ fabulous” with their decorating , big and load... you could tell a Greeks house coz of the concrete lawn , garden fountain statues and flamingo replica in the entry. The joke was two flamingos got married and put up some plastic Greeks on the nest . Italians are so much the same as are Maltese . Great humans who have virtually built our nation
