Well-executed shot. Prob should give a nod to Steve Llloyd's original at this spot however.

Im kind of at a loss of words on the plagiarism here. The original image was taken in 2012 and was a part of the photo of the year competition here on pinkbike. This was one of the hardest images I have ever created and I even gave a detailed explanation of how I shot the image. This image was a big thing for me and was an image that defined my brand as a photographer. I am disappointed that this image was used to represent Lear for the Deep summer wild card contest as the intellectual properties that I created were pirated to create this photo.

Gemini Bridges? If so, not as difficult a shot as maybe expected. But, an amazing shot nonetheless. I also had to take a minute to figure out what it was. Thought it was big flint flakes too.

Thought it was burlwood with obsidian inlays and I thought to myself: well that’s lovely craftsmanship, but what has it got to do with biking?! LOL

For anyone who doesn't understand the techicality behind this image - extremely high & well executed! Single shot or composite?

 Surely composite...

@monkeyseemonkeydo: this can be done in one shot, and I suspect it was done in one shot, which makes it even more impressive

@monkeyseemonkeydo: long exposure with a short flash

@Milko3D: This is Steve Lloyds photo from 2012. To me it is a little more striking on the whole, although the sky is a little better in this one. Both great pics!

It is an insanely good shot! But I think there is a good chance it is a composite. Looking at the metadata - it says it's a 4 sec exposure @ ISO 1600, which is probably from the layer used to capture the riders (and arches?). Could be wrong though.

@ben-karalus: 4 Second for capturing the stars.
Short flash somewhere in those 4 seconds to get the riders and arches.

@IntoTheEverflow: You'd need something like 25 sec at ISO 4000 and f2.8 to get decent stars. 4 sec at ISO 1600 and f2.8 wont work, even bringing the shadows right up. But it doesn't really matter how this was captured, it is a stunning shot!

@ben-karalus: 4 Seconds exposure can't be for the riders, because they would get blurry.
Maybe it is too short for the stars, I don't know.

Great shot but.. if it is what it appears to be, it breaks national park guidelines? Last time I checked there’s no walking, let alone cycling on the arches.
  • 4 0
There are arches outside of Arches National Park. . .
  • 7 0
This is NOT in national park boundaries.

It took my brain a few seconds to realize what I was looking at. At first I thought it was a shot of 2 arrowheads or ebony stone chips...

From the thumb nail it looked like two huge slabs of black rock to me !
