It may slightly resemble an SX, but its NOTHING like an SX...the SX is a 4 bar horst link...this bike is essentially a single pivot, since there is no pivot between the main, and the rear axle.
This is exactly what we want. I just hope Mongoose won't mess it up adding too many colours to it or big names all over the frame (this is not what we want). We, the people, want to keep things simple and I can surely tell this bike is gonna sell if Mongoose should follow this trend. The bike seems to be alright as it is (either black or white anno will do), the cobra headset shows up with the rest and I can see how the head tube angles shorten up to improve the frame’s slope ridding capabilities (not to mention the very wise rear linkage which, I am certain, will reduce all pedalling induced bobbing: I can see this most clearly in my head just because I understand how it works). I am going to say it again. This bike will sell if Mongoose is wise enough to keep things simple and sell the bike as it is. The bike's geometrics can surely be improved, but please do not mess up with colours and names (we're just so fed up with it).
Nice full suspension bikes are very hard to come by, let us be honest. I am not going to say I have a very long way in this, for it is not true, but I have kind of a taste, and can always tell good things apart from the bad ones. Some times you just bump into something you like, but there is always something to it that puts you off. Say Santa Cruz’s new Blur, any Iron Horse, Rocky Mountain’s new Slayer SXC or any other bike you might think of; they are all the same: they always lack one thing or the other. Some times it is the rear piece the thing that goes wrong, some other times it is all about groupsets (Felt’s new Compulsion’s price range does not make any sense if you think about what you gonna get for the money), forks or rear shocks (they just do not show up with the rest of the bike). Here I can see how Mongoose has been finally able to give some thought to this matter (which is no joke: it was just about time) and come up with this very good idea on how to put things together. This is a mathematically correct bike (which is good news) in terms of balance and equilibrium, and this also shows in its aesthetics. What makes this bike so special a thing is the event which brings it about, and not so more the bike as it is (the bike is nothing but an expression of it: that is, the people behind it). This bike draws a line between the past and the future, old and new schools, and presents us with new territories and lands where no man has ever set foot on before. The bike, therefore, should be called “Epicurus†and not a “Nugget†(the latter would be a brute’s bike). All of this is simply too good to be true.
