Hey everyone,

I just want to share a story about my cousin and his broken hip and fractured femur story while he was doing a riding tour in Peurto Vallarta, Mexico a few days ago. He was riding his custom bike with 2018 da Vinci full suspension hydraulic disk brakes. There was a 26km (19km uphill on pavement and dirt, 7km hard dirt/rocky mountain roads) mountain biking tour with four different clubs from PV going from El Tuito to Yelapa. He was 20kms in and going down hill 25km/h when he hit a sandy part of the road he slid off his bike and into some big rocks and shattered his hip socket in four or five places. His femur doesn't even fit in his hip socket anymore. Paramedics brought him to the hospital by boat. Of course he didn't have travel insurance and this time it caught up with him. His doctor told him for the surgery and physio therapy for 3 weeks, he would have to pay $430000 pesos ($20500USD/28000CAD).

If I could also ask to spread the word and if anyone (yes that means you Smile ) can help financially, that would be amazing and a miracle! He has spoken with the Canadian government to no avail, and he cannot fly home to get it fixed, since he is a flight risk being in excruciating pain and a paralyzed leg (no one wants that liability, people!)

Anyways, life can sure turn around quick when you're living life to the fullest and trying to have fun while riding.

Thanks for listening. If anyone can help, it would mean the world. Please see the link for his GoFundMe page. It'll have more pics, videos, and a bit more info.
