@obee1: I know exactly what you mean. This is actually a LEGAL wall with permission from the owner who is also a graf writer. We're all in our 40s now and can't be sneaking around, climbing fences, and running from cops anymore... lol

@fredro: yup, i had all the chances and connections to go DEEP into graffiti, but the experience really turned me away from participating- even as a teen.
to pay for the paint, inhale the fumes, develop the skills, prep the surface, draw the designs, and THEN HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT BEING ARRESTED OR LOSE THE WORK TO SOME a*shole WHO WOULD COVER IT UP? f*ck all that.
there were walls in the 80's and 90's that were legal in toronto, and the midas wall was world class. but most of these walls had rules, and i witnessed some of these walls having some serious dudes running the rules.
f*ck all that as well.
but again, one of the greatest contemporary art forms.

@obee1: I love the whole scene and its roots in hip hop culture. I tried when i was younger, but I was terrible at it. So i just enjoyed all my boys' work. Went on some shady missions to get to some illegal and obscure parts of NYC. Lots of run-ins with cops, rival crews, dogs, homeless people, addicts, etc. You name it, especially within the 5 boroughs. Crazy times indeed.
