@kinny-pb: admittedly its my least exposed to genre, though I have a vast eclectic taste in music. With all of the new avenues for sonic exploration via digital / computer generated sounds I tend to lump anyone who manipulates them into a category of musician... for me an MC much like a “singer or vocalist” is extending delivering their vocals harmonically... its funny my wife knows the words to a million songs whereas I know very little since I rarely listened to the words rather let the sounds of the vocals blend with the rest of the songs as an instrument if that makes any sense. But I do realize that rap or hip hop is very message driven...
@sterlingmagnum: I get what you're saying. Everyone has their own music tastes. My girlfriend listens to rock and country music. I'm mainly a hip-hop fan, but have country, R&B, metal, rock etc, on my laptop and MP3 player.
I respect every genre and people's music tastes, so if they don't feel rap/hip-hop then that's fine by me.
