After a year and a half of brutal and constant abuse my rear triangle finally gave up. I was at a marine with my girlfriend and a one foot drop finally broke it in half. The same day the Rocky Mountain rep was in town so BAM! New rear triangle. Lucky me.

I'm not even going to get into the Kona arguement with you. The real question is why you picked some random pic to prove your point.. and you would point out the session 88... the word trendwhore comes to mind when you love and trust a bike that is still generally untested. And it doesn't bother you that you didn't even know what kind of bike this was.. personally, i would be a little embarassed.

in WHAT WAY is the Trek Session 88 not tested? They had professionals riding them a year before they released them to the general public! They gave out hundreds, even thousands of them to magazines and other reviewers and the general message is that they are surprised how much abuse it can take, especially for such a light bike! The only actual "break" i have seen of a trek session 88 (DH) was Cameron McCaul's on the Red Bull Rampage, and that was a cased 60ft step up, and the frame didnt snap or even crack, it bent slightly and had a few dents, but what do you expect from a 38Lb DH Race bike? The only other problem with the frame is denting but thats because the frame is thinner, in order to be lighter, and Trek are sorting that out for 2010 anyway!
Apologies for the mixup in terms of bike, i thought it was a marin

page 30 of the The best DH bike.. session 88 being replaced. And nothing can replace actual real world testing by real people. the Session 88 is a hyped bike with a build that has not been durable in most reviews.

marin suck (sorry i dont actually think that but thats what people would say if it was a kona - just making a point!)

 Point fail!
  • 2 2
no sorry thats not a fail. my point is that if this was a kona, people would be saying its shit - so why dont people say this is shit, or just stop insulting konas - all manufacturers have problems with bikes breaking (apart from the trek session 88 Smile )

Actually. It is. Its not a marin, and no one said anything about Kona. So your point is completly invalid. Also.. The problem people have with Kona is less about them being prone to breakage and more about the 12-18 young year old Kona riders (like yourself) that feel the need to talk shit about just about everything. This site is loaded with people like this. I challenge you to look around, if you see an ignorant comment on this site, the majority of the time it has been posted by some kid who rides a Kona.

Also, in this case.. I can attest to the fact this bike was taken far beyond its limits. lol

mate that was completely unnecessary. My point was, since you clearly didnt get it, that if it was a kona, people would be saying its shit, and i am merely filling in the other bikes, with the same load of bullcrap. I thin you need to realise that actually, not everyone 12 - 18 A)has a kona and B) feels "the need to talk shit about just about everything". I challenge You to look around and see, actually, how reasonable some "young kona riders" can be! Maybe, you should stop stereotyping kona riders as people who leave ignorant comments.
Oh and actually the majority of ignorant comments that i have seen, have been left by owners of Orange and Iron Horse bikes!
