people gotta stop ripping on knoas look around you will most likely see other compaines with snapped frames, more konas because more people own them from what i seen
ok look i don't like kona as well but i have to say every bike has its ups and downs and u don't see every kona snap and u don't see every demo snap and so on with any brad its alot of how hard u ride how well u treat ur bike and if u land wrong and the frame isnt made to take that pressure that way there is a good chance of braking parts just like with anything else for eg. cars there better in head on collisions but if they get hit from the side there not meant to take that and stuff brakes, so stop scraping over whats better its how u treat the bike.
loads of people buy konas because of the reasonable price, loads more are sold than any other dh bike im guessing so the ratio of pics you see with snapped konas to any other brand is going to be higher.... and they are nice bikes, so stop ripping into kona people! i bet most of you haven't even ridden one.....
how is there anything wrong with kona's the main reason you see so many pic of them broken is because there one of the most popular bike companys around.
and if they were as shit as people say they wouldnt fucking make them any more
I have a kona stinky primo 2007 and a kona kula deluxe 2008 currently
and they give me no problems at all , great bikes !
i had more konas in the past and no problems
I wonder why this isn't a pic of a snapped Demo...oh wait, maybe because Specialized uses double ORE downtubes on their frames, not to mention cold forging.
hoshi its ironic in your dp your wearing a kona jersey. And my mates 99 kona stinky deeluxe was stuck in a bin after snapping on the seat tube, was welded back together and has only just snapped. i mean nearly 10 years of abuse with a weld in an area with a lot of stress? where the main bushing for the rocker sits? surely thats an example kona should be proud of. i think this guy was just unlucky and had a big crash.
agreed, i had a 1999 stab delux and i flat landed from 2+ meter up so many time i lost count and generally hacked like a red headed step child over my 1st year riding(last year) and it never coughed even once, 2 dents in the frame and 8 years of constant racing all the way from world cup races then winning national and provincial championships before its rider was killed in a car crash and i bought the bike..
This happened in Bulgaria , in Shambhala Bike Park in Sopot ... I was there and I saw it ... he didn't break the weldings on the tubes, he broke the tubes ! :O lol
if u havnt noticed all frames will snap, and the most regularly snapped dh frame that i know of is the specialized demo, i alone know 2 possibly 3 people with demos that have a crack in them!!
well il admit soem koans are shit just like any toher bike companie,im not even jolking my cowan ds i think is better then other bike of its kind. bb pivot to alow singlspeed, just an increadble bike built up its 32 pounds!!!! its a dualy
that realy amazes me because every pro with a demo never brakes the frame and on stunt junkies claw showed you how much presure it takes to bend a demo, you would probaly brake your bones first, that doesnt mean a demo wont snap but it means its one of the stronger frames you can get which brings me to the possible conclusion perhaps riders buy a bike thats beefy because there very unsmooth and after a couple years that will take its toll on any frame. i dont dought the possibilty of a fault but what year/years was that fault?
pretty sure that Kona needs to start coming out with stronger frames. they would have soo many more ppl buying their product if they werent known for having there frames snap so easily
you sure? they could roll out of the same factory but does not mean they use the same detail and standards when making the two different brands, and giant bikes are better designs generally
easy lads, i have a simple way to resolve our confict, it's called "Pics, or it didn't happen!" i don't know about kona integrity but i've only had a chance to ride a lower end stinky but it felt like a turd
ive snapped a kona and a specialized p2 on the rear triangles, it`s not the frame, company, or anything. its just how it was welded and how youve been riding your bike. every frame is going to snap if you ride it hard enough.
