& there I thought he was getting ready for the next leg of the race over frozen lakes. Those blade rims help to grip on the ice really well... pity they don't help you stop much haha
thats how the australians do it. nothing will stop us from completing a race. just like the olimpics, jarad graves got taken out in the bmx finals and he still completed the race Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi
You're all morons, it's a tubular tyre that has to be glued to the rim. They're light as f*ck and impossible to pinch puncture, but if you've managed to pull the tyre from the rim, good luck gluing it back on and riding straight away. (that's if you have the glue with you)
lp970, i was commenting on the pic, its too soft so he needs to work on getting the focus sharp, and the riders not frozen properly, so a strobe on like 1/4 power at bottom right would have frozen him perfectly, or you could under-expose a stop or two, run the strobe a little hotter, and itd get rid of the heat on his back. maybe throw in a strobe low on the left of the pic at 1/8th power to counter-act the harsh shadow an his body too.
and who's to say he doesnt have either the kit or the money anyway? he appears to have a decent camera, and a high spec session 10, and take a lot of photo's so...
bunkey u sound f*cking stupid...it looks like the person that took the picture was an observer on the side of the trail...it does not look like that nice of a camera, nor does the person take a lot of photos (if he/she doesnt even know how to use auto focus), not to mention its not that nice of a camera if this is the quality of the pic when using auto focus (its an xc race=not going fast enough to be this blurry)
not to mention this pod is not about quality of photo its about the subject! gnar ride down dude...way to finish!
when some ride a bike with a flat you can crap the wheel set but now on this pic this guy ride his bike with out the tire and the rubber, my opinion I think he is not finished the race
ok well it looks a hell of a lot better than any camera ive got. maybe il just stick to sites where people care about the photo as artwork and accept constructive criticism instead of shying away from the reality that EVERYONE can see the pictures, and some of those people see photography as an art, regardless of subject, and therefore will make their oppinions suggestions known.
judge me all you like, but nothing ive said is wrong. Id happilly have people critique my photos if itd help me improve.
Bunkey..... Your a ponse...
1.i know nothing about taking pitures but i appreciate ones of either good riding or gnarly content.
2.this doesnt look like a photo shoot so setting up all your fancy equipment to get your 'perfect shot' would have been tricky.
im sorry man. ive had a major argument with my girlfriend today (we've been together for 3 years so far) about her wanting to buy dope. im pretty shaken up, upset tbh. i shouldnt have critiqued that shot when a) its not the photography that makes it cool, and b) nobody wanted me to critique it in the first place. Ive made a complete tit of myself because I was angry about something else in my life. Im sure your old enough to have experienced similar yourself. Please dont let this argument be a basis for judgement. I fully withdraw everything I said on that picture and I feel a grade A c*nt for letting my emotions affect other people. Im sorry for wasting your time. Peace.
Bunky: Just know that I am will be shagging your now ex-girlfriend just as soon as I finish typing this message and as soon as she takes off that bra you liked. One man's rubbish is another man's treasure. I made sure she got her dope too.
If you think about it it seems kinda fake... like if he were determined enough to win that he rode down without a tire wouldnt he just leave the tire? i sure would.. and it would take a bit to take the wheel and everything off, but not to long
I am not a decent human being. You're out of luck today bunkey. Can you please stop typing now, the people don't want to have to read this shit anymore? Thanks.

I'm sorry but bunkey, there are lame excuses out there, but that's as bad as it gets. And I agree with the comment above me. And the one about the unsubscribe from replies one too.
TimHorton "If you think about it it seems kinda fake... like if he were determined enough to win that he rode down without a tire wouldnt he just leave the tire? i sure would.. and it would take a bit to take the wheel and everything off, but not to long"
Read the link above, it says he didnt want to leave it as some souvinier for someone to take home as its a new and pretty expensive tyre
OMG!!!Everyone just turned on bunkey for telling us his opinion, isnt that why comment are available, and people dont want this shit to start on there pics then disable the comments FFS.! it seems like evryone want 2 voice their opinion louder than evryone els and all it does is turn in2 a ragin argument about somthin really stupid so whats the point?
no.... in germany the tires are very expensive.... so he thought: well i am poor... tires are expensive so i have to carrie it into the finish to repair it.... blablabla wasn dummer scheiss xD well egal
you can buy a hitlerstatue for the price of an binladen statue... NEG PROP ME!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That guy really want to win and letallon finish the race. props to him. and look at the front rim right when he hits that rock, that cant be good. oh and i love the tire arrownd his neck it just ads to the whole pod. pod pod pod
And we pay lots of money for good DH tyres, forks, wheels etc. And then it comes this guy with his 100 mm fork, "weak" XC to show us that the rider is much more important then the bike. I have to learn this.
id personally take off the back tire instead, like your going down hill anyway so theres no need for traction used to pedal, plus you will be able to steer towards the finish instead of a big rock 10feet in front of you
I did the exact same thing with my rear tyre on the last 28 kilometers of the megavalanche @ Alpe'd huez. I Know How He Feels! Props for comming down that way
well its tubeless so it just burped off which meant the tire wasnt attached to rim at all. And im sure he had a quick release front wheel. it probably took him 1-2 minutes max.
Freaking insane. I wouldnt do that. Props to this guy. I bet it would be difficult to handle with that tire hitting the handle bars going over a woop. Extreme hulahooping.
kylemalachi (1 days ago) (Below Threshold) show comment See, now I know you're just another cocky photographer who thinks he knows everything. Guess I'll also mention that even your wording makes you come off as a complete cockbag. 1. I looked at your photos, I know you can shoot action sports. 2. I'm educated. I know what I'm talking about. I did go to school and yes, I went for photography. 3. I started an opinion on how it appears very fake. There is still no dust from the front or rear wheel or anywhere in the photo for that matter. It's obviously a very dry course, there should be some dust. And again, no one would ruin a good rim to finish a race, and if they were going to, they wouldn't stop to sling their tire )which they stopped and spent time taking off) over their shoulder. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever. You would A. Leave the tire on or B. Change out the tube. Now, maybe if you can explain all this to me, then maybe, just maybe, I'll believe it's a real photograph. Also, please stop acting like a douchebag. There are enough DBs on pinkbike.
^^MATE, you are a massive SPED and have no idea what your talking about or facts to back up your argument!! You clearly were "educated" at some sort of sped school, and really came across as a "douchbag". you're clearly dillusional as you can't realise that you're the one being the "DB" and ruining pinkbike! If you refrained from posting stupid shit when you have NO IDEA what you're talking about; "then maybe, just maybe" pinkbike would be a better place.
i have seen many pics of xc riders doing this. it is not that uncommon if you look i am positive there is a pic of keith bontrager doing this while racing big bear
I don't know if you have realised yet, but it is HIS BIKE..... not yours. Not he obviously has respect for his gear, bringing his tyre down with him. He says that the tyre he was running was a prototype so he couldn't leave it for some tourist..
yer i know its his bike, just why would he keep riding it, once again no respect for bikes, or the image of bikers there
thats just giving us a bad name
GoApollo, no, they don't have a clue - allow me to enlighten their common-sense starved brains.
Riding a world cup event, be it XC or DH isn't simply about winning, it's about creating awareness for their team/sponsor. These people ride these bikes for a living, keeping their sponsor happy is a priority above all else (a sacrifice you make after deciding this is the life you want) - look at the buzz this has created on various forums, that's positive publicity both for the guts of the rider (not giving up) and the quality of the rims - what sponsor wouldn't be happy. And that's saying nothing of his finishing position, he might have held on to a single point that could have changed his overall world ranking at the end of the season. to say he's a 'bellend' just proves how ready you are to try and put someone else down to make yourself feel better, that says more about you than anyone else.
To jamiedavies, if he's running a prototype tyre he will be contractually obliged not to give the tyre to a third party - what would the tyre manufactures opinion of the rider be if he'd just left it at the side of the track? They certainly wouldn't be asking him to test anything in the future that's for sure.
it really doesnt take balls to carry on riding with out a tyre TBH i rode a mated bmx at a skatepark without a tyre,
and if he wants to create awareness about his sponser then he would of left the tyre there for some one to pick up, use and then people see the tyre about more and buy it more- simple
yesok, well said. POD's are little more then a platform for stupid comments. good on the aussie for finishing what he starts. its just a bike, racing bikes is fun, finish what you start.
Also... When you are racing in a circuit, not finishing can be seriously damaging in the points race. Even if you don't place, crossing the finish line is vital! A "did not finish" or "disqualified" can knock you way down in the standings.
sheldonj is so clever with his GCSE's he cant spell country and private the pictue shows the rider's determination and passion for the sport, fans and sponsors. riding a bmx at a skatepark is something entirely different than racing in a world cup. when im in a race (all be it a small scale quiet one, im no whree near pro ) getting a good position is important but the most important thing to me is finishing. also sheldonj dont prop yourself.
sheldonj is legally retarded look at your post about riding your 'mated' bmx bike and leaving the tire at the park using it as an advertisement?!?! do you honestly think that would work??...
all it takes is fast fingers, and transpossed letters and you'll get negative proped on pink bike. it's okay buddy i miss type all the time. i postivie proped you too.
This one is a close call, I zoomed in on it and thought for a while. If someone had photoshoped this they did a damn good job. The one thing that I think makes this realistic is the top of the rim is blurred, which makes sense because it would make up for the spin of the wheel being stopped if this guy is actually hitting the rock under the rim.
I think it's a stupid picture, I'm sure he was just trying to get a good cover pic.
This is a work of photoshop. There is motion blur from using too low of a shutter speed everywhere in the photo except on the rider. Also, look in the tire. It's just a grey line. There is no dust being kicked up. So fake.
Nope, you're just ignorant. If it were panning then the spokes wouldnt be solid. They would also be blurred. Therefor, you now know nothing about photography. This would also be extremely easy to edit, just saying.
haha, u talkin to me kyle? Coz if you are you just passed one of those stupid comments again. Have a look at my albums & tell me I can't take a photo. I'm just sayin, why the hell would you have to photoshop this guy anywhere, him riding like that in any photo would be cool, so why move him from 1 pic to another? The spokes are blurred... on the outside where they move the most & the shutter speed was not THAT slow to blur the inside of them. Just sayin.
haha, thanks. He obviously didn't read this part of my 1st comment. "Educate yourself before you pass comments like that, it just makes you seem really stupid." & well, now he sounds REALLY stupid... now we just have to wait & see if he's dumb enough to try & make an excuse or keep on making an ass of himself.

dude, read the link, the rim was fine, bar a few scratches, the tyre a protoype so theirfore very expensive, and as said before, i doubt his sponsors would be happy if he left it as a souvinier. read the facts before you belt out at someone
