fox makes their springs longer to allow for extra room should the bottom out bumper fail. Pretty sure its just a regular 2.75" stroke. Where are you getting the 8.875 from though?

Isn't that a kingfisher frame? I used to have a kingfisher and it takes a 8.75x2.75 shock.
