hmm...looking at this...i notice, what if you bottom out...is there enough room for the canister of the shock to miss that bottom of the seat tube? im sure it is...but just doesnt look like it does
yea of course there is enough room. I mean look at this picture: here a coil shock is even closer to the seat tube and its fine. I took out all the air from my shock when setting it up and it never hit. The way that a cove shocker goes through its travel is when it is being compressed the path of the seat tube moves down on a backwords arch moving away from the shock. Plus the shock's stroke is compressing into the main chamber, making the the stroke smaller.
Yes, but a DHX 5.0 DAMPER and Spring will run you about 500$ more then a air shock would have. Ti springs are NOT cheap. Heck, aluminum isnt cheap, look at the cost of our bikes! hahaha.
haha nice man! liking the red boxxers on it. I am thinking of getting my fox 40's custom painted in the winter to match the frame and get it re-stickered after. I have a friend that does custom airbrushing and stuff. I think it would look amazing if i did it!
you guessed wrong. its 40.13. lol The only reasons its over 40 is because of all those metal spacers to i used to space out my floating hub. which added over a pound. I am getting a new wheel very soon so i will post up the proper weight then.
i have a straitline stem and funn fatboy bars now. aswell as juicy 5's (all i could afford) instead of my heavy hayes..... so that could drop the weight even lower - http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/3723070/ and with the crowns i have i don't think i can get a direct mount stem.
i really like the shocker. Its incredibly responsive and corners like a dream. Such a fun bike to ride. I haven't ridden the DH supreme so i couldn't tell you anything about it. But if you get the shocker you won't be disapointed.
Do you mean dhx 5.0 coil? Because 5.0 only refers to how much adjustability the shock has. Also what bike are you putting it on? That can make a difference. In general, If you want to save weight and don't have $700+ to spend on a dhx coil w/ ti spring, then go with the air. It takes more time to maintain an air shock so if you don't know how to set up and adjust your shock to the type of terrain your riding, then get a coil since coils are alot more forgiving than airs are.
i got it without the rear shock because mine fit on it already. and probably because the price would be cheaper at the "head office" which is cove bike shop in north van
