There are more Sram owned components (Rockshox, Sram, Truvativ, Avid) then any other. That said, I have had more problems with Sram then any other product, so I simply won't buy there stuff, even if I can drop a few pounds by doing so, its just not worth it.
No they are a good company, but myself I choose to avoid them where possible, cause they are one of the few company's I've ever really had troubles with. But thats just my experience. Not saying they don't know what they are doing, they try to hard to keep cost down i think.
the manufacturing process isn't perfect in any company. high end forks snap, ferraris break down. So far this is the first 2010 boxxer snap i've seen on here (maybe second) and for the amount of people buying them, that's not bad at all. plus, he's getting warranty, so what's the problem?
emmm the problem is his fork broke and thats bad shit. So if u bought a ferrari and it broke down in the first year youd just say ahh its cool i mean the manufacturing wasnt perfect. dont think so
that's not my point. Things break it's a fact of life. Yeah it would be irritating if it happened but it's covered by the warranty. do a quick search on here and you'll find broken 888's etc too, does that make them all crap?
how do you know? EVERY manufacturing process has faults, marzocchi and fox included. Probably about one in 1000 boxxers break like this, you're an idiot.
you still aren't getting this are you? the production line cannot be completely foolproof unless you test EVERY single product or have them custom made by hand. It's not a recurring fault and they don't need recalling. How many broken 2010 boxxers have you seen? you're just another person jumping on the "O LOOK ANOTHER BROKEN BOXXER THEY SUCK LOLOLOLOL" bandwagon, without taking in account the figures. They may have had some dodgy years a few years back where maybe a few too many broke, but barely any of the 2010 ones have broken. If anything marzocchi are having some major quality control issues recently having been bought out by suntour.
- spongosauras - "So if u bought a ferrari and it broke down in the first year youd just say ahh its cool" haha mate... they really do. It's something you accept when you buy a lot of sports cars/supercars (especially italian ones)
haha, i've seen 40s with snapped arches, holes in their lower legs (that are made from tin foil) and snapped pinch bolts. my mate at the end of this video crashed out and a pebble from the gravely surface punched a hole in his forks and scratched the damping rod. you can see the damage at the end of the vid: www.pinkbike.com/video/54271
anyone ever think that there is such a thing as too light? that goes for all companies out there. as riders demand lighter parts companies are forced to remove a lot of material. sadly resulting in weaker parts in many instances. theres a fine line between practical durability and weight.
People have been asking for lighter products for a long time now. Companies are bringing out products to meet that demand. They break more often, of course (it's 6 pound DC fork for god's sake) but they are selling like hotcakes and that, from the company's standpoint, is basically the only thing that matters. However, I think every Boxxer that I have seen broken did so in that in that exact spot- either 1) they had a bad production run with air bubbles getting in there somehow, 2) they just need to suck it up and put 100g more material on the arch or 3) do nothing, they are selling like mad and doing a few more warranties is cheaper than redesigning it anyway. My '10 team has been good so far (not great) but even after some substantial crashes and scrapes on the lowers it is going strong.
To be honest, Its a race fork. Its designed as a race fork, It performs like a race fork does, Its marketed as a race fork, Therefore its not going to shrug off years of abuse. You dont buy a TVR or similar and expect to be able to park it on the drive every night in all weather, commute in it day in day out and be a reliable family car. If you want race quality products, you cant expect them to last forever.
So This is what i think, the boxxers are great. And i have nothing to say about the quality, but when YOU the rider of these boxxers decided to buy a new fork, why did't you go on with the foxes you had from before? Did you think about the weigth?
haha, quality, i don't wanna be the one going "oh i'm so shocked that another fork has broke, they're all shit" but honestly they're breaking left right centre, you can even tell from how skinny they are that they wont be able to withstand minor collisions/crashes most are good but there aren't thousands of boxxers out there whoever said that ridiculous; there are tonnes more fox's than anything tbf
i would link you to the other pics where boxxers have broken like this
but my time is more important than you, cant be asked to argue anymore, unlucky about the forks is all i can say...
stupid? all i'm saying is that boxxers have the majority or breakages from what i've seen, and i know what you mean about the pinch bolts on the 40's, they're not great for that realy, anyone fancy calling this quits cause it's a conversation pointlessly carrying on for no real reason...
You dont see as many broken 888's or any other fork for that matter as you do with boxxers. They always break on the lowers, be it the arch or the actual lower legs snapping.
I wonder if kona and sram are working together now ?
did you watch rampage 3 888's broke no boxxers from what i saw, and i saw saw someone 3 a fuck off gap on them, fact is if you riding hard enough you're probably going to break something eventually
Well when you think about it, RS has what seems to have always been weak lowers. I mean come one i've seen more pictures of Snapped boxxers then All other companies combined. The should redesign the Lowers, Namely just the Arch.
