I agree, I did see this bike at a few events in QC, as I said below, the pic does this bike no justice.

 Translation it's 4130 Japanese Cromoloy,in other words Way stronger and less flexxable than Aluminium (it's made of the same stuff BMX's are made of).

 Each of these statements is confusing in one way or another.

Per equal volume/cross sectional area:

1.) Steel is stronger than aluminum. The ratio depends on what grade/alloy you are comparing.
2.) By definition of the Modulus of Elasticity: Steel is STIFFER than Aluminum. Again, it depends on which alloy you compare as to what that ratio is. This also makes steel harder to machine, and therefore more expensive to use. Al 6061 cuts like butter...(well, almost)
3.) Steel is heavier than aluminum.
4.) Aluminum is weaker in tension than compression has a much smaller fatigue life. Steel is equally good in compression and tension and has a much longer fatigue life.

So in the end, the engineers/designers weigh these factors and reach a compromise. IMO, steel is the winner, but then again I like custom made bikes and not cheap Taiwanese junk...

 no, notice HIGH TECH. i was comparing how all the new bikes are really nice looking, and this bike doesn't look like the greatest bike, and too be honest, most people who are experienced in metal fabrication would be able to make this bike with with basic tools.

 Yes, that is true. This bike is hand-made in Canada by bike enthusiasts using American made True Temper Super-Therm chromoly tubing. I'd rather have that than have some random Taiwanese guy/girl involved that cares nothing about the bikes using generic Taiwanese Aluminum.

I have to disagree a bit with the high-tech part though. Single-pivots work extremely well, especially for a DH bike. Brake induced forcings can be mitigated with a floating caliper. It's in the fork, shock, and brakes where I want to see the pinnacle of engineering design. Plus, look at Motorcycles. Single-pivots seem to work quite well for them...

 yeah, but this is definitely not bringing anything new to the table. single pivots aren't the most advanced thing, but they aren't the best too pedal with. the design looks like something someone would draw in math class.

 I would honestly think that stuff welded in Taiwan and China is probably of better quality and workmanship than stuff built in North America...any good welders here are scooped up and paid three times as much to work on pipelines and stuff. The people over in Asia are often welding bikes day in and day out from very young ages. I would probably trust overseas frames equally, if not more than hand-built in Canada.

 Slopestyle123, If they made the same bike you ride out of aluminum, same dimensions and everything... you would be correct that Steel (Chromoly)would be stronger than an all aluminum frame. Depending on the grade of Chromoly it is about 4 times the strength of 6061-T6 aluminum per unit area. that being said there are a lot of factor that go into design. One for example is that aluminum becomes weaker around the welded areas unless you post process them, Where steel does not necessarily. Also as stated before steel has equal tension and compression strengths as a material... not necessarily true for the structural shape. Where aluminum has different values that depend on a whole range of factors that I'm not going to lay out. Simply put, it is absurd to say that one bike is stronger than another based solely on the material of the frame. Each one has to be engineered to meet the same demands, so they are equally as strong.
