I've seen it in action many times during many events here in quebec and it was taking everything you were throwing at. (and it looks way nicer when you get it in front of you!)

sorry if my english is not good

I agree, I did see this bike at a few events in QC, as I said below, the pic does this bike no justice.
  • 3 0
i love it for its simplicity, not only the single pivot but also the little details of the frame. In my opinion it is one hell of a frame.
  • 1 0
Looking at the picturs do not do this bike justice, to see it in person, its purelly awesome. Hard to believe its a DH bike, but ive seen it riden, it can handle it. Kindve a street bike on steroids. NIce bike Dobermann!
  • 1 1
hahahaha its an ugly frame probably rides smooth tho... i like them rock shox tho... they would look waaaayyy better on my bike tho.. with that kind of a bike i wouldnt throw dual crown i would keep it light and simple for cruisin or hittin smaller dirt jumps...

 On 8 inch travel.
  • 1 0
Looks so home made... The seat tube angle with that amount of travel seems ridiculous, u will have to run your seat in the sky for it not to rub on the back tire.
  • 2 3
I have mixed feelings. Doberman knows what they are doing when they build with steel. Even though its supposed to be function over fashion, everyone will agree that when you plunk down your cold-earned cash that you want to be proud of how it looks. Nobody is going to pay 5 grank (per say) on a bike that looks dorky, even if it 'works'
  • 1 2
i rode it for a day in bromont
it pedal like crap and it bob like hell a mess!!!!!!!!
and went you want to brake the suspension get so hard it like a hardtail!
they want to sponcering for the next year with a free frame and i said no way.
and after a good week of riding you have to chage the main bearing pivot (a bb of bmx)!
and you have to put the seat so high because the seat angle. and it CRAK at 2 places on the swingarm.
imagine you racing and you snap your chaine or you got a flat. you get angry and your week-end is f..k up , so immagine riding a bike like that for all a summer! no way!

c'est du cromoly...donc en masse solide
  • 4 4
Translation it's 4130 Japanese Cromoloy,in other words Way stronger and less flexxable than Aluminium (it's made of the same stuff BMX's are made of).
  • 1 0
 marketing victim
  • 1 2
Again, read my first post above and stop yelling "marketing/propaganda".
  • 1 0
looks oldschool, I like it! Smile (pretty weird semi-slick tire in the back though... )
  • 2 0
Looks sick. Chromo is super rad!
  • 11 10
looks weak. but i like it

4130 Japanese Heat treated Cromoly, Ever heard of it? it's about 4 times as strong as aluminium but with near the same weight and no flex ,f*ck it's like you've never seen a good dirt jumper or a good BMX....
  • 13 3
lol, you've been reading wayyy too much propaganda.....
  • 4 6
Yeah, Cr-mo is nowhere as light and stiff as aluminium.
  • 11 1
Each of these statements is confusing in one way or another.

Per equal volume/cross sectional area:

1.) Steel is stronger than aluminum. The ratio depends on what grade/alloy you are comparing.
2.) By definition of the Modulus of Elasticity: Steel is STIFFER than Aluminum. Again, it depends on which alloy you compare as to what that ratio is. This also makes steel harder to machine, and therefore more expensive to use. Al 6061 cuts like butter...(well, almost)
3.) Steel is heavier than aluminum.
4.) Aluminum is weaker in tension than compression has a much smaller fatigue life. Steel is equally good in compression and tension and has a much longer fatigue life.

So in the end, the engineers/designers weigh these factors and reach a compromise. IMO, steel is the winner, but then again I like custom made bikes and not cheap Taiwanese junk...

i said "looks weak" i didnt say it was not strong. my bike is cro-mo and its stroger than alu fyi.

Am i the only one who thinks this bike is hideous? i mean all the other bikes that have been shown at interbike are all hydro formed, super high tech and awesome looking. then there is this thin tubed single pivot.
  • 3 1
HYDROFORMING IS FOR ALUMINUM. This is steel...
  • 4 2
did i ever say they should hydroform it?
  • 3 0
No, but you did say: "all the other bikes...are all hyro formed, super high tech and awesome looking."

Which implies that all you care about is how a bike looks...
  • 4 1
no, notice HIGH TECH. i was comparing how all the new bikes are really nice looking, and this bike doesn't look like the greatest bike, and too be honest, most people who are experienced in metal fabrication would be able to make this bike with with basic tools.
  • 3 0
Yes, that is true. This bike is hand-made in Canada by bike enthusiasts using American made True Temper Super-Therm chromoly tubing. I'd rather have that than have some random Taiwanese guy/girl involved that cares nothing about the bikes using generic Taiwanese Aluminum.

I have to disagree a bit with the high-tech part though. Single-pivots work extremely well, especially for a DH bike. Brake induced forcings can be mitigated with a floating caliper. It's in the fork, shock, and brakes where I want to see the pinnacle of engineering design. Plus, look at Motorcycles. Single-pivots seem to work quite well for them...

One of Einstein's quotes is quite pertinent here: "Any fool can make something bigger and more complex. It takes a touch of genius and a lot of courage to go in the opposite direction."
  • 3 1
yeah, but this is definitely not bringing anything new to the table. single pivots aren't the most advanced thing, but they aren't the best too pedal with. the design looks like something someone would draw in math class.
  • 3 2
ok so basically: if you like it buy it (if you can), if you dont, shut up you're not forced to buy it or deal with it.

I would honestly think that stuff welded in Taiwan and China is probably of better quality and workmanship than stuff built in North America...any good welders here are scooped up and paid three times as much to work on pipelines and stuff. The people over in Asia are often welding bikes day in and day out from very young ages. I would probably trust overseas frames equally, if not more than hand-built in Canada.
  • 3 0
Slopestyle123, If they made the same bike you ride out of aluminum, same dimensions and everything... you would be correct that Steel (Chromoly)would be stronger than an all aluminum frame. Depending on the grade of Chromoly it is about 4 times the strength of 6061-T6 aluminum per unit area. that being said there are a lot of factor that go into design. One for example is that aluminum becomes weaker around the welded areas unless you post process them, Where steel does not necessarily. Also as stated before steel has equal tension and compression strengths as a material... not necessarily true for the structural shape. Where aluminum has different values that depend on a whole range of factors that I'm not going to lay out. Simply put, it is absurd to say that one bike is stronger than another based solely on the material of the frame. Each one has to be engineered to meet the same demands, so they are equally as strong.

 Snap goes the doberman!

Snap goes the CROKSHOX ten times before that doberman!

It's not propaganda, but he's not entirely being accurate in his statement. It's called material properties, and you can look all of these things up if you are truly interested...
