A wall behind was used to ride onto the phone box. He then starts the move from stationary on the phonebox facing towards the camera and then spins and hucks from there!
A boy came up to him after and asked, 'are you the guy off the computer??'.
Unless they are going reverse. Lumpy kk would be right. But unfortunately they are not. It's opposite sides Lumps. Us Americans are the only one's that drive on the "right" side of the road and have our steering wheels on the left. Aside from a few other places. Majority drives on the left with the steering wheel on the right.
here we drive on the right side with steering wheel on the left side, england i think is the only place where that doesnt happen i europe( i almost got hit by a car biking when i went to england, roundabouts are weird )
wow this is really really niice. and very huge^^... he landet in flat, didn't he?.. well totaly podworthy... i like these oldscool callbox, thats cool x)
everytime i see a pic of danny im always thinking "how the f*ck did he get up there??" , so once again how the f*ck did he get up there?? but this is really gratz Danny (Y)
simppe: of course its photoshopped! how else could they make it? and have you not seen his video? ...compuslary viewing. robbo2517: yeh it was in mbuk.
I would say that a kicker was used to jump up to the phonebooth, the kicker was in the shot the whole time, a photo was taken after/before the time without the kicker and used to photoshop the kicker out of the pic, but i could be wrong as i was mot there. I just don't think anybody can jump that high without a kicker. It still is a great trick and shot.
After posting, I saw the same stunt from a different angle, there is a retaining wall just behind the phone booth. You can actually see the shadow on the closest phone booth. I figure he just rode on the wall, 180 hop, and tapped on the phone booth.
Bertusvdm - do you really believe you would need to cheat on a Danny Macaskill photo? A wall behind was used to get onto the phone box (as I mentioned a couple of messages below), no great feat for Danny and hence not part of the sequence. Once on the box he faced pretty much straight at the camera, from here he then spun through 90 degrees to land back wheel on the top corner of the phone box (the first of the shots). From here he unleashes the huge pop to clear out onto the road whilst continuing the rotation initiated on top of the box. There's video of him doing this trick all over Youtube, just not off such a rad take off point - do no doubt the Mac!!
It's like when you see a really weird picture from japan. You just go "Oh it's just Japan." Same goes for Danny. You see something unbelievable then your mind reels at the thought of how he did it, then you just go "Oh it's just Danny Megaskill."
So there is this real nice guy, used to work at a bike shop in Aviemore, if you met him you would not know that he was the most talked about biker on the planet. Shame he is good at everything on a bike and building stuff too. Well done Danny for everything you have achieved and will continue to achieve in the future. You deserve it.
I love the no right turn sign behind him, would love to see a Taxi or Bus do that :o)

sweet! everyone is asking how he got up there...it says in the title "started from stationary" so by the sounds of it he got up there on foot someone passed his bike and then the magic started!
i know it is sweet but id like to see how he got ontop of that because i know he didnt hop up it so i think photo shop unless he gapped like 20 ft to a fu fanu
You have to love google maps. Check out the road bike on the post box to the left, then go down Hunter square. There is a guy sleeping on a bench under the church clock and an old roadie sitting next to the post box, texting.... wearing the same purple underwear (lycra) as Danny. Must be an Edinburgh thing. :o)
The pic featured in MBUK's Hot issue at the end of the summer and was shot at the beginning of the summer by myself. I thought it was a good shot to show too the huge following of Pinkbike. Chuffed to get a POD.
I have just looked at that and I have just been crap at shopping all the images together...seem to have partially erased a section of his front wheel! His shadows is not in the shot until he lands due to the position of the sun - even Danny cannot control this. If you want to claim any cheating be my guest?? but get ready to be shut down.
1. Camera was on the stand 2. One seqence has been captured (Let's say 5 photos) 3. Last photo with shadow on the road is a "base" photo 4. Previous photos has been cut in upper section and paste into the last one.
That's why there is no shadows, just the last one on the road. Reason why only upper section has been copied - no people or cars movement shown on the photo, which is based on last one.
For me no doubts that it is all for real and AWESOME.
fortunately his saddle was low enough that when landing out in the busy street he suffered no burns. this was his virgin attempt at the move...truly an amazing rider. a boy came up to him just after and asked, 'are you the guy off the computer??'. memorable day!
