Gnartail, are you asking why she has a neckbrace? if that thing flips, her head is going to hit the ground first. i know i wouldnt have the balls to rip like that. MAJOR props, keep er' shreddin Tara.
www.activeforcefoundation.org
Get yourselves on there, thats the company who make the bikes and make this possible. Tara is a legend of ridin and without this company she might not have been able to continue doin what she loves! Get on there and donate, i know i will be as soon as i get paid again!
Sick POD loving it PB
Also just noticed the combined lever, i can remember when these used to have 2 levers on each side, the riders had to reach a mile to activate both. Really neat looking machines!!!
I´m glad Tara doesn´t give up and keeps doing whats she´s best at: being superfast, no matter if two or four wheels. She´s probably still faster on this vehicle than most of us on regular bikes... two thumbs up Tara, hope to hear/read and see more of you !
roadrunner, you are a piece of shit, one day karma is going to come back on you, and you are going to have something drastic happen to you and some 14 year old kid is just gonna sit there and laugh. Your comment won't bother Tara though, she has overcome a lot and is very strong, so stop being a little shit and move on.
REALLY sorry to all the people i offended with that careless, horrific and quite frankly twisted comment above. I urge to tell you all that it was not me! i would never offend such a worthy and brilliant athlete who has overcome tremendous amounts throughout her life. All respect to Tara and those i offended and i am deeply sorry and an ill witted comment was produced from a freind who took the opportunity of a logged on account that wasnt his to post some crude and selfish comments. sorry to all,
Roadrunner365.
to everyone that commented positively on this photo i want to thank you. the smile on my face was about as big of one as the roost that is coming off my tires! thank you to tyler from PB for posting this as the POD. to answer a few questions...the bike cost approximately $10,000 US and was made by my friend brooke duquesnel who is with activeforcefoundation.com. i am wearing all TLD gear, a Leatt neck brace, Smith goggles, and those are all Fox shox. And as much fun as it is to ride this 4-wheeler DH bike i can't wait to get back up on 2-wheels!! ride ON!! tara
whoever built this knows what they were doin the suspension was built light and smart using dh rear shocks to act like cambers would on a car eccept you got a hell of a lot more travel to play with keep it up great pod!
GREAT to see the foxy Ms. Tara Lanes back on the mountain!!
total respect to any athletes who have been through her experience, and are still out there doing their thing
I was privileged to ride with Stacy Kohut a few years back in Whistler, and damn he RIPPED up A-Line in his off-road 4 wheeler, he was whipping it over the tables and sliding those berms
if any athletes with mobility issues are reading this, and want a serious motorised blast off-road, check out the Honda Pilot buggy - a super fast and nimble off-road kart that can be used with just your arms and hands (no foot controls) - will hit 60-100mph depending on tuning, you can take massive air in Pilots, such a sick ride even
Sick, POD fer sure, one sick question........if your paralyzed from the waist down? can you still preload? im stritting in my comp chair right now trying to see what handling one of these quadcycles would be like in the air, you would def have to use alot of waist and hip power, it must have tooken Tara awhile to learn to control it, but again, big props to her
it is POD but i have a question how does he go through a straight away??? if he is loosing momentum then how does he go??? not to be mean or anything just curious
fuck that shit dude they are stellar jus as is, i dont think these quadcycles would be possible if they had drive train, but i could be wrong, just dont take it anywhere there is alot of uphill, one thing i would customize oon it would def be the handle bars, looks like tara is slouching to far forward, thus raisng the bar hieght might be necessary
The slouching forward will be to center the weight. If it was too far back every time she did a jump it'd kick her over the bars or start back flipping.
ya ya true that, i was kind of trying to compare it to an atv or sled, but a fool i am for doing that, cause there nothing alike, i guess ill have to actually try riding one to really know how it feels
actually they cost around 17 grand for a base model, and to get one...your gonna need to get yourself into a good accident, but apparently their pushing to get it on the skii hills, and making it available for people that arent physically challenged, to rent, if thats true, i cant wait to shred on one, massive props to Tara and the people that made it possible for her to ride again
thats true, but you'll be riding a "zellers" edition for 12,000, if you want something decent with decent parts and completely custom, they start around 17, when did your freind purchase the quad
No, what I'm implying is that if you're a hardcore mountain biker, and you become paralyzed from the waist down, this is the best way to spend $20,000. Otherwise you will never ride bikes again.
i see wat you mean seraph, but if you think, is this actually classed as a bike? and you could also buy a custom sports quad which would be shed loads cheaper.
haha i did the same thing, jus right-click and save it to your pc, im using an external monitor on my laptop which is set at 1280 800 pixels, and the pic fits perfectly and looks fuckin stellar on the monitor
