Selected by Ian Hylands - Some old school photo style that is pretty timeless... This photo has some really nice diagonals and great composition, and I love the light in it as well. These are the types of trails I grew up riding, and this is how they look a lot of the time in winter... And I like how you can see the line down the rock in the background.
What a great POD! I'm not always crazy about the "non-action" shots, but this completely makes up for it. Incredible shot and work, I would qualify this for photo of the year. Congrats!
If its obvious ............then why do people come on here everyday and moan and groan about the f*cking photo of the day. My intent was to be obvious, but that flew right over your head. What does it mean when you call someone a muppet? Like Kermitt the frog? Wtf?
i would have thought on a site about riding and bikes the riding would have come before the photography, but n.m. there are loads of great photos on here of sik riding, but then everyone has different opinions.
Its not just about the riding or the angle, its the combination of it all to produce an epic photo that anyone can appreciate, thats what the POD is about
Did you use a Fish eye lenze ?It would be more impresive if the log or skinnie was 8 inches wide. To give it the "Wow factor" (like that guy Darrel says on Storage wars).Good thing he did not wash out,& fall on you.
Videos are better in my mind for catching the riding itself but you can't beat a camera for capturing just one single perfect moment. Ok, so both of his wheels are on the ground, but I wouldn't personally class this as boring riding. He's on a fallen tree in a massive forest.... I'd certainly rather be where he is than where I am... WORK!!
this pic is awesome! FULL STOP! POD doesnt have (or need) to be a huge trick everyday, this makes me wanna go out and shred way more than some tight jeaned teenager flailing limbs about over some trails. EPIC!
im gona get neg propped but i agree with milanboez mostly.. i know its picture of the day and all but i still think that pictures shouldn't get pod just because of a cool angle and nice lighting or whatever. not hating the picture or anything but i believe the riding is more important than having it be artsy...
Thats where Im afraid you are wrong. Its just picture of the day...........its supposed to be fun, and.. whats cool is, there will be another tommorow, and the next day..............and the day after that, and they will be differant styles and types of riding. Some will please some..........and others, will please others. Myself, Im tired of dirt jump shots, they all look the same to me. But thats me........
They are just pictures, they all deserve to be seen and enjoyed.
That is the reason he wrote it. He was saying it exactly how it is. I agree with DARKSTAR63 some photo's i like, and other i amn't into, just what your into i guess. Like biking itself, you may like DH but may not like XC. It's your own choice. So no need to go hatin' on the guy for saying it how it is.
calling someone a muppet isn't exactly hating on someone is it?!! Some people are so sensitive over stupid comment lists! My point originally was that I like the picture and didn't think it is boring. I am pretty much 100% dirt jump but I love loads of PODs from all types of riding. It's a balance of the riding and photography skill in my eyes... don't really appreciate some patronising fool telling me how POD works when the clue is pretty much in the title.
Its all good man, Im really not torn up over it. But you see I really think its lame to come on here an blast a picture like this for being boring because there is no sick trick involved. Its really not a big deal.
