I owned the version that doens't have the external audio xlr kit and no hot shoe (HDR-HC1). What did you think of them? I thought they were tanks. Mine lasted forever and went through a ton of abuse. But it broke after 5 years of use.

there the only propper cameras iv ever used so i have nothing much to compare them too.. from what iv used of it i like it.. batterys last for ages, fast focus...

i feel like your school is awesome...pretty sure the cameras at my school still take tapes, or we may have upgraded to cheap ass HDD cams.
