Canon EOS 40D Sync Speed Test. For most mountain bike shoots I do 320th would be fine and some times, but very rarely 400th.
Off camera triggered with pocket wizards
oh ok, which model you have? I am looking into wireless triggers for my 430exII for biking shooting. And if it is the plus II do you ever miss the ETTL?
I wouldnt buy flex tt5's there piss poor as an understatement i'm regretting buying mine but i supose there is no other alternative as they are hot shoe ready and come with a screw on mount at the bottom so no adapters or any of that bullshit
ttl is over rated! hahaha I like to think I'm smarter than my camera & can make a better decision than it can Get PW Plus II's & you can sync up to 1/1000th. With the bright sun here I couldn't do without that. Also a lil helpful hint if you havn't thought about it already is that if the rider is in the bottom of the compo & you wanna shoot at 1/400th just turn the cam usd... do it with my D200 every now & again.
Ahh but with the new tt5's your suposed to be able to sync upto 8000th of a second which lets face it is awsome of you shooting where you live (i know in vigo last year i was shooting anywhere from 800th-2000th at 2.8 )
I must read up on them more, but doesn't make sense that a trigger would change the cam's sync speed, unless it goes into fp mode automatically, but that's still not half as good as the proper fast sync the D70 has. I have tried with my D200 & connected 1 flash to the cam & wizard via PC port so I could shoot to 1/8000th I think. For portraits it'd be fine, but for action you cant get the flashes in close enough. The falloff seems to be super short when you go that way round. Hopefully with this strobist burst the cam companies might look into making something for ppl that need those fast sync speeds. Can only hope
