looking nice, but surprised you went for a single chainring?
  • 1 0
cheers i never used the outer ring or the granny ring, wasn't much point in keeping them on there. Keeps you fit anyway.

 ah fair enough

EDIT: just realised you have the same chainguide i was going to get, what it like?

it's good, be careful with the bolts on the top guide though, they're easily rounded if you overtighten them. There's a review in this months MBUK, they just said it was a good bit of kit for a good price and it does exactly what it says on the tin.

humm god to hear, and yeah i had a brief look over the mbuk review, the price is what grabbed me though, 35 for a decent looking chainguide? sounds awesome to me.

did you mount yours to the BB or do you have chainguide mounts?

lol i'm sure it was only £30 on the superstar site when i ordered mine, maybe the price went up for the new year, still well worth it though. It's because superstar buy from the factory and then we buy from them, usually it goes factory > components company > shop > us. This is essentially the same as the da bomb chain guide, which costs like £20 more, and i think it's from the same factory, but the middle man has been cut out, hence the price.

And mine is BB mounted

yeah i know about the whole middle man shenanigans, its always cheaper to avoid them, or buy from a low vat country (*cough* CRC *cough*)

nice, well ive got my 222 now Big Grin i will mount mine on the bb as well, which version of the back plate did you get? the ISCG 05 or ISCG?
  • 1 0
you might as well mount it on the iscg if you can, it's a lot less trouble, and mine is iscg05, but it makes no difference if you have the bb adaptor. if your frame is '05 or newer get iscg05, if it's older get the old iscg
  • 1 0
oh just realised it doesn't have iscg, i'd have thought they would on a frame like that, in that case get the '05 one so you can fit it to a newer frame if you get one
  • 1 0
yeah im not sure about mounts and which ever is the new one or what not, it don't have mounts as its around late 2003, before mounts were standard on DH frames.
  • 1 0
ah ok, well if it's just on the bb then it doesn't matter, iscg05 is the new one so you might as well get that
