FUCK SINGLE CROWNS. I broke my Pike. I did two perfect backflips in a row, and on the third jump, I hit the take off and started the rotation, only to hear a crack and see my front end move. I let go of the bike, and my friend said the front end was indeed broken in the air before it hit...WTF!!!! Dear Rockshox, I was just riding along when all of the sudden...

I will probably get Neg prop'd for this and a remark saying "Pikes are legit for dirt" and I'm not doubting they are BUT there is no way on earth that sram are going to Warranty that fork if you've been hitting dirt and doing flips with it.

 Damn aluminum steerer tubes!
  • + 1
 That's depressing...Any ideas for replacements?
  • + 1
Well...All single crowns will snap eventually, but I need SC for bar spins and t-whips, so idk what to do. Probably get a replacement from RS. I have a spare 66 in my room, I'm just putting that on for now.
  • + 7
Not necessarily, they will break eventually if you are hucking back flips.

I've ran both the Sixty-Six and Pike on my HT. While the plushness and burliness of the Sixty-Six is nice, the Pikes weight is unmatched. I was really surprised that steerer broke, from what I heard Pikes almost always snap at the crown.

That was the defective 2005 model
  • + 0
YOUR DEFECTIVE! With all your backflip nonsense lol
  • + 2
plus you got the one with the alloy steerer lol get the 426 theyre pretty much the same weight and have a steel steerer!
  • + 1
Get a Fox 36 or the new 180mm fork they make.. I have to say, lightest, strongest, and best feeling fork I have ever ridden. Ive taken it head on with landings and gaps and never once has it shown any loss of performance.

lol single crowns arent the problem

Well you do know pikes are only classed as an all-mountain fork...
  • + 2
Alot of the slopestyle guys run them, semenuk does.
  • + 6
Because they get them for free. Never use the excuse that 'pros use them' to justify something.
