yeah man, was soooo amped on it! Have been shooting there a lot lately & on the way there I was wondering what I could do different & after 20 min this rolled in & was tricky as hell to shoot in with the flashes, but soooo amped. Been waiting agaes to shoot in mist like this! Keeping the best for a lil something I'm busy with , but thought I'd share a few
yeah, I try do that most of the time, but on big sessions I chill a bit more. This was more coz I was shooting long a lot & had to run to fine tune one of the flashes, run back, shoot, fine tune another one, run back & cam's battery was on its way, run to bag, get battery, run back, shoot. DONE, next angle & same shit haha most of the time I get the flashes sorted quick, but the mist was making it tricky & flashes were misfiring a bit for some strange reason.
haha, hell no! I have 6 Pocket Wizard Plus II's & cost me just short of £1000 & not starting that again! I think it was just coz there was s much moisture in the air, never have problems otherwise... unless the batteries are flat
hahahaha, you forget where I live man! There are no shops I can go to that have pocket wizards of any kind, the closest is 5 hours drive & they only have the Plus II's. I've had to import all of them & am happy with the plus II's so no real reason for me to even want to get others. what can the tt5's do that would make me need them so badly & if it's TTL... no thanks... I make the decisions, not my cam! haha
haha, for sync speed I have my D70 that can get to 1/1000th & you know the TTL means nothing to me hahaha so yeah, kinda like ppl trying to tell me CS4 is soo much better than CS2 & I can't survive without it, but all the new shit is shit I dont use, so no real reason to change. I don't think I'll ever need more from a trigger than what the PW Plus II's have to offer.
now. i for one dont like bmx at all. but just since this pod is soo sweet, and the trick is no less, im guna go ahead and say. best pod ive seen in a long ass time. great work everybody. and props to the rider for pullin a great superman on a huge sender!
I remember when I used to shoot film (not that long ago) with 2 flashes and sync cables (long ago) and I still got great shots. This one is great, don't listen to what they tell you about what you need. You also NEED a Profoto Air setup or the new Broncolor Pack to go with your new D3s so your flash can keep up at 9fps. Not. Great Shots!
I'm quite sure i never mentioned anything about needing things i simply said it would have been easier if he had some flexx tt5's which is corect as he could have changed the flash power on camera (to a certain extent) without runing to and fro 3-5 different flashes. don't get me wrong i like your work and i'm sure you could use the most basic equiptment and produce some shit hot shots but buying new gear (in theory) makes things way easier.
Yeah but for the price of some tt5's to replace his perfectly good Plus II's he could get some useful stuff and find a willing assistant to run around and change stuff for him. He'd also need to spend a whole bunch of time learning how to use them, and also change his whole shooting style. And for what it's worth in my mind I'm still not convinced the tt5's are working properly yet, and everytime Canon comes out with a new camera or flash they won't work with it until PW comes out with a firmware update. And at the current rate they still haven't figured out the existing issues and started working on Nikon stuff yet, so maybe in 5 years when they have everything figured out and working reliably it will be worth switching, for now I think the Radio Poppers are a way better product if you simply want to adjust flash power from the camera. They've avoided the whole proprietary TTL control thing and just simply use the signals provided by the flashes. And they can also control your Alien Bees, White Lightnings etc.
technology quite often complicates things and gets in the way of creativity. just saying...
Yeah your right on that part i had some tt5's and just couldn't get them to work to which pocket wizards own advice was to try a bodge and it "may" work. i supose if he sold his plus 2's and replaced them with flexx tt5's t would probably cost the price of an extra plus2. the way i've looked at the flex tt5s is they may not work to there full potential now but as you say in a couple of years they'll be working perfectly, so you'll have them now and use them just like plus2's then when they work how they advertise then you won't (need/want) to change. i hear alot of people talking about radio poppes saying they would have them over any triger but i dont think there availble in the uk .
Thanks Ian. Aah, Charlie the fine tuning was positioning, not flash settings, so unless the tt5's can move my tripods for me they're still not gonna change anything or make it easier. I set all my flashes manually & that's not a problem, just the angle for a certain trick might cast a shadow over the riders face & I need to sort it out. I'm not all that into the new nonsense, I like it simple, less things to fiddle with when things don't work the easier & don't feel that I need more from my triggers than what the plus II's give me, if I do I'll worry about it then.
i Shoot using one flash on the camera and two lenses, and i have to work with what i have because i have hardly any monney but hey, i think i get some pretty decent shots.
tt5's can move tripods Eric....it's crazy. And they can cook you a meal too.
To be serieus for a bit, ofcourse they can't cook, duuh
I'm working with PW MX tranceivers and I love them, no also working with a the Elinchrom Skyport system. And I must say, to have the control to set the flash on a higher or lower output is kind of cool!
My speedlights are old sb-28's so tt5's wont make my day I guess??? but maybe in the future if they can make it working solid ill buy them with some new flashes, I'm always interested in new stuff that could result in new posebilities.
But I still think the MX versions look waaaaay cool in my hotshoe And I'm still in love with my D70s also that I use with my D300. But when de Nikon D4 hits soil, it's mine! Although I will never sell my D70s. Only that cam won't go off any more? It's silly, only when I take the battery out. But it tells something about the spirit of the D70s, always want to shoot!
best POD for a while the lighting on the mist from behind just ads that POD material to it + you are so lucky to live there i heard that the soil basicity molds itself, love that stretched to infinity superman its just the right trick that could get you sponsored unless you already are which is why it is so awesome you got my vote dude keep up the good work
haha, yeah, my hands freeze up so fast in winter & it's not half as cold as you get. This session was still pretty warm, was just in jeans & vest, but needed the exercise anyway
"my hands freeze up so fast in winter" smoker? man you are so lucky, we have the worst wintertime this year, just way too long...the picture with the bridge and the gritter was the coldest. i want to have summer back
haha, yeah, smoke roll ups a bit, but not much. More from holding the cam Yeah, the weather here is crazy too. Summer was super late & sooooo hot (got to 40C quite a few times) & then this mist... think we might be in for a really wet winter, but will prob also be late. So nice today, gonna go shoot some more later
Most people say getting permission to build jumps/trails is the hardest part to getting good riding around where you live. I think picking up the shovel and putting in the hours is.
