hey i have the Cactus V2's, and i've done several mods to them which increased the range drastically. I havn't had them run out of range yet, and they fire every time. If you can handle a soldering iron i'd recommend the Cactus just because of how affordable they are.

Oh hey, it's the guy who told me I suck, haha:P

Yeah I considered them, it took me awhile to decide, infact 3 months and all I have read is excellent reviews about these and couldn't find the cactus v2's in the uk.

It will be interesting to see how these perform compared to my ebay ones (rf-602). Think im going to add some duct tape to mine to enhance there water proofness lol.

Yeah Smile Well there is a review that rates these better than pocketwizards cos they are smaller, lighter, cheaper, more channels, same kind of range and as good a build quality, However pocketwizards can be used to trigger your camera too

 And so can mine Smile

Just looked into yours, they look quite good actually!

So scott, the 7D has a built in trigger?
  • 1 0
Yeah, well it's like a pop up flash trigger. You have to have the pop up flash in view of the big red infrared screen thingy on Canon flashes. This means the off camera flashes have to be in front of you and not hidden behind a tree or behind you, also means that if you turn the camera to a portrait position the off camera flash on the other side of the camera won't detect the pop up flash. Succcckkkks! However it does take upto 3 flashes and like I said previously the power can be changed in camera too.

These Ebay jobbies? How much did you pay dude?
  • 2 0
Nope, got em from Warehouse Express, they are meant to rival P Dubs interms of a performance to price ratio. £200 thats with 2 receivers and 1 trigger, ebay jobbies or Cactus V4's are like £40 maybe look into them on a tight budget. I chose these cos of the range and overall quality and size.

Pretty sweet, I'm in need of a receiver and trigger. I'm pretty confused as to what to get.

So was I to be honest, I like the wireless inbuilt system in my camera, meant I could adjust the power of each flash on camera, however they had to be inview of the pop up flash and that was restricting my lighting set ups and compositions so hoping these will help strengthen my images:P Just means I have to walk over to the flashes to adjust powerFrown

Look into Cactus V4's, Ebay jobbies(think they are called pt-04's), Elinchrom Skyports or the range on Warehouse Express and see if you can get em cheaper elsewhere.

I'll take a look into them, cheers broo.

RF-602 triggers look good man! Look into them if your considering triggers. If I had known about them I might have got em instead of these

I can only seem to find them for either Cannon or Nikkon, I'm using an Olympus. I'm presuming that they need to be used with one of the two said brands?

Hmm I don't see why camera brand would matter, Graham a few comments down uses a samsung/pentax and he using em.
