Great shot.
Why is it POD though.....
All it does is capture the moment, with the rider nicely in the sun, escaping from life in the city, with an angry looking sky and a great backdrop with nice colours of the oranges on the beach. I know if looks like it could be one of those true natural XC tails with random rocks and debris everywhere....

everyone who thinks their way of riding is the only kind to look at is a retard. i know that there are tonnes of children on here who only dj or fr/dh, and that's f*cking rad. to only let those be pod is f*cking ludacris, mtb started on single-tracks and trails and without it, all these dumb kids would have no hobby. hahaha, i can't wait to hear people tell me off about my legitimate and completely fair blurb.

PODS have a sexual preference solarsatti? Really now? I've said it before, but why can't POD be about capturing a scenic moment during even our most mundane day to day rides? Chances are the rider didn't even get a chance to really view this great cinematography around him until the person who snapped this picture got a chance to show him. Every time we ride we miss great views like this until a friend captures it just right to show us what we neglect to see when we're doing cross country, free ride, downhill, trials, bmx, etc... Most of us miss the best part of riding a bike because of nothing more than a different perspective. I think this is a great POD.

So what if the rider isn't 'doing anything special', it's not about that, this picture gives a great insight as to what a mountain biking lifestyle is about. Just because he isn't hucking off a 50ft drop doesn't mean it doesn't deserve POD. And besides, Scott doesn't decide whether his shots get POD or not, so it's not his fault if it does.
So, if you don't like this picture, f*ck off with your stupid comments and go hate somewhere else.

No solarsatti, you're wrong. Riding a bike is about the scenery just as much as anything else. Otherwise the people who make MTB films like NWD, Seasons, ROAM, Lifecycles, F1RST, etc... wouldn't put in so much effort to make sure the shots they film showcase the environments that riders like us get to see and experience. The same could be said for all of the photos that MTB magazines print. What we ride, and the astounding scenery we get to see is far more important to the sport than you realize. But by all means, if it makes you feel manly and tough go ahead and insult the entire industry.

No please don't. It's not about sanity or insantity. Some riders just haven't been able to see something on a ride that made them really connect with the trail they were riding. I think once every rider gets that chance to view just that one brief instance on just one trail where they really stop and appreciate what they got to see just because they rode a bike, then maybe those people could better understand the absolute awesomeness that we get to see. Hell, seriously, my local trails are pretty low key and simple, but I really wish I could take some people from here on a few rides at just the right time and show them my favorite views and spots. Maybe it would change their mind and give them a better appreciation for the mountains we ride.

Its a nice photo, but i think it would be better if the rider was a bit closer to be bigger, so the nature on the pic wont "kill" the biking part.

Erm I agree with solarsatti and cyrix in NWD and stuff they get awesome shot with people doing awesome biking. If it was just some guys on specialized enduros with camelbaks and gay helmets it would be sh*t but they have pros doing jumps and going ridiculously fast so to make a good picture of Mtb it should be good riding scenery is just an addition. And I think I speak for a most dh'ers in that we ride for the fun of actually riding I don't care about some trees or colours ok if it's like a super amazing mountain or volcano then yeh it's cool but I don't ride just to look at it

because it always has a few patches covered in that white stuff, i dont think i've ever seen it without, its really iconic but just doesnt look as good with those bits, its like edinburgh castle with scaffolding on it... if that makes any sense.
