This is a ghetto trick I use. With a tripod, extend only 2 legs (and make sure it's level) and mount the tripod plate on the camera off by 90 degrees, installing it sideways, and that way the camera can tilt left and right (instead of up and down).
With that, just eyeball and keep the camera level, and "tilt" the camera as you lean the two legged tripod side to side. Works well for shots that are edited quickly together, but not for the longer timed shots.
