so is that big chunk of metal on the bottom of the steer tube a twist off? looks like they might be evolving that also?

that metal is just a mount for the display rack. It's not part of the fork.

oo gotcha, yeah it didnt make sense to me cause that piece seemed rather unnecessary and heavy, thanks for clearing that up!
