 if you don't have one, I'd throw a quick link on anyway... it makes cleaning so much easier, and i tend to clean my chain more often when I can take it off that easy. nice ibis. too bad about the ride being cut short.

 word. from your description, I assumed you didn't.

 Undo the links and feed the chain up from the chain stay and out so you do not need to remove the crank.
