that is so sweet mate. i love v-10s ( but never riden a dh bike lol ) and are you sponsored by sc by any chance ? coz i didnt know you could get hold of the protos so early/easy
Its as done as they ever are but they thats it for now. As for weight last time it was done it came in at 37lb exact I think so it will be just under that now.
Yeah I know what you mean about them never really being finished. The only other changes I've done to mine was swap out the DHF/HR for Muddy Marys. Unfortunately, that brought the weight up to about 37 lbs as well but they sure came in handy Friday in the wet..
How do Muddy Mary's compare with Maxxis Wet Screams? Don't really know much about the Mary's but love Wet Screams for the shitty stuff? And thanks for the comment on the bike sniper.
Wet Screams are definitely a dedicated wet tire and don't do well in the dry as the knobs will just fold over. The MM is more of an all rounder from what I've noticed. Wet screams you really have to trust the tire as there is a bit of a dead space when you lean them over before they really hook up but for super wet/muddy conditions, they are great.
Cheers for that, know what you mean about the dead space and no mans land between upright and cranked over. Awesome tyre for the wet stuff though from my experience. Heard a lot of people on the UK race scene raving about DIY cut down Screams as a bit of an all rounder. I won a fresh set at the start of the year so I'm tempted to try it but taking a knife to a set of brand new tyres will bring a tear to my eye!
Lots of riders will cut the center knobs to make it a little better rolling. I hear ya on cutting new tires though. I will probably just be getting a second wheelset and mount some dedicated wet tires as I run all my tires tubeless.
Yeah I'm in the same boat, running tubeless so swapping tyres about all the time can become a bit of a ball ache really but I suppose its worth it in long run.
same here I run a lot of time on wet stuff or rocks and the muddy mary 2.5 performance do it all. feels a bit like a nevegal on gravel (witch I like since there`s no dead feeling and slides but really controlled) in mud/clay it grip like crazy so its the tyre Ill always get. Ive a minion front 2.7 3c highrollers 2.5 supertacky, nevegals 2.35, stouts 2.3 and yeah I think MM are the best all rouder out there
They're really good, a decent trade off between strength and weight. They also make going tubeless so easy! I wanted a set of I9's but they're not that easy to get hold off over here and I ended up getting f*cked about for ages so want with the Deemax and don't regret it at all to be honest.
New bike time (again!), want the V10.4 if I can get hold of one. I've had the frame about 8 months or so now. If I can't get hold of a V10.4 then I'll be keeping it for now.
Oh my days, then why not just sell the frame coz you got all the parts anyone would ever want right there? wish I had the money to buy it, sexy bike lol. Please can I have one of those money trees that you have?
Thats the plan ideally, sell the frame and forks and pick up a V10.4 and some 2011 40's. I'll get some of those money tree seeds in the post to ya, they take a while to mature but shit its worth it!
??? Don't know about that. The V10.4 frame is 2lbs lighter than the V10.3 frame, and my bike weighs in at about mid 35lb so a direct frame swap would see it weigh in at about mid 33lb. Not overly bothered about weight anyway though to be honest, wouldn't want to go much lighter than what my bike currently weighs.
