Selected by Tyler Maine - Brule chose this pic, but I'm pretty stoked on it as well so I'll comment. Part of me finds it really busy, but I also like all the orange swirls and the escalator. The composition is ok, not as good as it could be given all the great spirals, but the reason I really like it is because this guy is riding down an escalator in a mall. Lots of people talk about it, this guy is doing it... and he did it several times with flashes and everything judging by the other pics in the set.
@ description "but the reason I really like it is because this guy is riding down an escalator in a mall. " no kidding I thought its POD because of light, colours and other factors. Captain obvious strikes again
two things: i love the people watching it...and also HES IN A f*ckING MALL RIDING DOWN AN ESCILATOR!!! my testicals are not quite big enought for me to do that. just sayin...
The question is would you go faster if the escalator was moving up or down?
As we all know, when you go down a long set of stairs, you start of slow and go bump bump bump bump but by the end of the set you are going faster and smoother - bu-bu-bu-bu-bu-bu-bu-bump.
If it was moving towards you, the frequency of the bumps would be higher, and this would mean a lesser angle of incidence of the front tyre on each step and therefore you would be slowed down less. But, there would be more bumps.
If the escalator was moving down and in the same direction as you, the ride would be rougher and the bigger impacts would slow you down, but there would be less bumps and they would be moving in your direction, which should help a little.
The other thing about bumps coming at you faster is that your wheels will 'plane' over the bumps - the suspension doesn't have enough time to hit the bottom of the bumps and just hits the peak of each bump. If your rebound was too slow the suspension would 'pack down' as per the text books.
Driving slow on a corrugated road is much rougher than driving fast on it.
The upward one is slower. The downward one wouldn't slow you down. And I would think the upper one would be bumpier because the force hitting the tire would be higher(force of escalator going up).
The an escalator going up would be slower, but only because of the increased bumps. If it was a smooth moving walkway going up, it wouldn't slow you down; your wheels would be spinning faster.
Yeh in england ppl are old in the mind...no freedom they hate our bikes you cant evenbe on the pavement with your bike without having stupid remarks like "yeh road is a good place for bike" just...shut up.
Love the idea, feel like the composition could be better and wish the rider was wearing something that popped from the background. Still a damn cool shot though!
Ha ha! He has to evade security for 3.... more.... drops.... then out the door and safe in the getaway van. That would definitely bring on the adrenaline! What fun!
ha! how much of a boss does this guy feel like? Everyone is watching him like....Yup....janitors deff came by and saw tire marks n shit and were like......k.....
I like it because the colors look adorable and the idea to film in store is original, such a good photo, you can feel the adrenaline of the rider who goes downstairs
^"but the reason I really like it is because this guy is riding down an escalator in a mall" if he used the elevator, wouldn´t been such a great pic...
