 Well, I thought that it would be better to have a bit more grams around the centre of the bike and keep the front and back relatively lighter to make control, spins, overall riding easier..

 Not to mention much more clearance and no cassette/derailleur hanging off the back of your bike, and also shorter chain and shifter cable. Yay!
