yeah well thats why were going to make two more drop offs, a north shore drop off and then a smaller normal drop off for people who don't wanna do the main one. Having more tracks stops people getting pissed off with everyone altering the one there is at the moment to what they want.

True I'm happy to help build

hmmm, i think building smaller jumps and building up to that jump is a better idea, coz theres gonna be riders coming through the middle of the second jump.. making the planks for northshores out of trees take the piss aswell so i wouldn't be doing it! lol
  • 1 0
true and you can just move it were ever it would be mobile, but the first gap jump needs fixing the lip has totally gone
  • 1 0
yeah but blocking the gap of the second jump is a bad idea when this berm gets built because if you get a rider coming to do the line they'll deck 'emselves on the "north shore" I still think your better of making smaller jumps next to the trail if your wanting to practice rather than meddling around with the decent ones, heard no complaints about the first?
Do you know how to make a north shore? Wink

no but i mean a proper north shore, not just branches nailed to a bit of rotten wood, i meant i've not heard any complaints about the lip on the first jump. Hmmm I just really am not feeling this north shore idea of yours, if your gonna do it don't do it on the second coz like i said someones gonna ride into it.

the way you do it is, cut down a tree, cut it into segments of 18" then split it into planks of 1" thickness then split those into a good width with a hand axe. Problem is, no trees are allowed to be felled and if it gets into a big north shore, its likely to be ripped down coz landowners are really funny about them coz their a "risk to public safety".
I'll see after we get the features were planning built.

or after you have finished this track we could make another track with a bit of north shore in it
  • 1 0
if a north shores made then me and chris'll make them properly out of the pine trees coz as soon as you start bringing stuff like planks that aren't "natural" the people that complain about the trails anyway can make a complaint that were fly tipping and then that'll force the police to kick us off, thats why rubbish is a problem when ppl just leave it all over.
  • 1 0
true, but would it be classed a fly tipping because we are using it
  • 1 0
have you seen that proper shelter some guys have made like to left of where this new jump is, its proper wierd, perfect wood for building the north shore supports tho Wink hahaha
  • 1 0
nice what we could do is make one north shore that is big enough to go between all the gap jumps and move it so people that cant jump properly (like me) and get better
  • 1 0
but then it defeats the purpose of a gap jump Wink I think we'll just start building different trails and features and move on from that instead of messing around the the current trail.

no you take it away when you can do it with out landing on the north shore
  • 1 0
yeah I can make a north shore, and complaints about the first which one is this? and the north shore would only be across the gap when I'm there lol it will be against a tree waiting for me the rest of the time haha
  • 1 0
it'd be a tough one, they'd probably get it classed as fly tipping even if were using it, its not worth testing, it'll look proper sick if its made out of pine north shore in the end.
  • 1 0
yeah true even though I have only been riding there about 3months it still wouldnt be worth risking it
  • 1 0
well its not straight though, as it'll be more of a berm than just riding straight through, then go off to the right side of "your" track to form a completely new line.
  • 1 0
right that would be a tight berm to the right of that little gap jump, well your smart do what you like but all I ask is please don't wreck that track it is the only thing I can do
  • 1 0
were not going to wreck your track, theres no reason to do that, why would we trash it haha, were just trying to create different things to ride and film.
  • 1 0
yeah ok no Just that argument you guys had with Jack that was all, what day you going up this weekend?
  • 1 0
yeah but that was coz he was altering something which people liked, were not altering anything, were putting new features in to a dying track. dunno, whenever i feel like it.
  • 1 0
True but people keep taken the rock on and off now depends who has been there last to were it is, and ok I'm not sure when I'm going up either but it will be one day.

north shore need planks of wood and it can be removed just lays in between the gap and ok some guy said that it needed a new lip on sunday wasn't from around here though
  • 1 0
yeah its possible but the problem about planks still remains, dried out trees are really hard to split into planks, We'll see anyway..
  • 1 0
I have about 10 - 15 planks they are as wide as a single bed I think to could cut them in half
  • 1 0
lol landing ramp?? looks mint will this join to the main line or to that little track that I always do?
  • 1 0
theres a natural dip which were digging back to make the landing.. its a completely new track were planning
  • 1 0
oh sweet do you straight through the gap jump you can see inthis picture, what day you off up this weekend?
  • 1 0
yeah but riders were clearing it to much with the rock on, so without it their landing properly.
  • 1 0
yeah I understand but for the less experienced riders to make jump it with out damageing the bikes and them selves the landing need to be built up more that is if the rock is going to be permanently gone
  • 1 0
if you want a different drop off, maybe try what were doing and actually build it yourself?
  • 1 0
Yeah could do but would be mint to do the whole main line
  • 1 0
Even better idea George but will take ages, why not build a whole north shore track there is plenty of space are the woods
  • 1 0
yeah well thats why was being thought but where are you gonna get all the planks
  • 1 0
where will you get the planks from?
  • 1 0
good point I have a few at my house in the garage from an old bed but wont be enough
