nice pic.. not liking the lack of helmet tho, had to call an ambulance and help some dude who had plowed face first without a helmet into a berm today (blood, seizure, and lack of any memory when he came to)... the consequences of this could be much worse and to imagine that is not pleasant.
martin, he's a grown man, he can do what ever the hell he wants. and the photos really good so if you dont think it should get pod then you sir are pretty dumb.
The no POD rule on Pinkbike is just to prevent Pinkbike from being sued by idiots who say "My son was on Pinkbike, mister judge, and he has seen those riders not wearing helmets". Judges might conclude "Oh, then Pinkbike stimulated the fact that he didn't wear a helmet and is therefore partially guilty for the disability of your son and has to pay a monthly fee to cover the medical costs."
Wearing a helmet is a personal choice. I can imagine millions of situations more "dangerous" than being on a bike, where a helmet is not worn because that would just be stupid, or simply because there is "no need". I wear one everytime I ride, no matter where, because my mother would be that idiot sueing Pinkbike for a lack of helmets in the POD's. No, seriously, I just do it for safety. I wouldn't take a chance on becomming the new (dumber, but less paranoid version of) Stephen Hawking.
Even if you think it's cool to ride without a helmet, think for a second of what would happen if you fall on your head without one. Your coolness could make you a plant that has to be taken care of each day.
Yeah he should be wearing a helmet, but the main point and question is, has there EVER been a POD for BMX'ing or even XC? It always seems to be DH and FR that gets POD these days?
People go on about wearing helmets because you are stupid if you don't wear one. Maybe if you smartarse kids listen to those who have seen the results of not wearing a helmet and crashing, we wouldn't have to say it. Watch the latest Atherton Project. Dan would be dead if he wasn't wearing a helmet.
